Question Trouble finding the rev limiter.

Here is a little bit of background.

Last year I bought a used 2009 Ralliart from a dealer that didn't know anything about it. Between then and now, I have done some research and have found that it has an AMS (or like brand) boost pill and a custom tune.

Not liking the fact that I had no idea what tune was actually on the car I decided to download the GST Basemap from here. Car has been running so much better since doing this, but on to my question.

The other day I was driving home from work fairly tired and just wanted to get home. I had the car in Normal Manual Mode. I was driving down the highway for 20 or so minutes and I pulled up to a light forgetting it was in Manual Mode. I accelerated hard out of the light and noticed the revs climb up to 8.5k before I was able to realize what happened. My question is why did it not hit the rev limiter and why was there no fuel cut. I have looked at the tune and it says the rev limiter is set to 7100, but it still didn't cut.

For testing purposes I tried hitting the stationary limiter which is set at 5500. Sitting in park I revved the engine and it went right by 5500.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's correct, this has nothing to do with the stationary limit.

In the version of the GST basemap I am running, Ecuflash shows the following under Limits:

Rev Limiter ON: 7396 (stock is 6800)
Rev Limiter OFF: 7218 (stock is 6499)

I actually lowered mine from the GST basemap's values to be closer to a more conservative 6900rpm and it does in fact work.

If you're not "hitting the limiter" before 7.5K RPMS then you don't have the GST tune flashed to your car's ECU.

On the other hand, you did say you were pretty tired. I know I've personally gone cross-eyed and misread gauges before. So, it may be possible that you misread 7.5k as 8.5k. The only way to know for sure is to go out and do it again.

I will have to check and make sure that the GST tune is on there, but I'm almost positive it is. Ill lower the rev limiter to something closer to stock and reflash it. We will see what happens.

EDIT:

I went out today and reflashed the GST tune on the ECU and lowered the rev limiter a little bit. And it worked! This is the first time I have actually hit the thing since I owned the car. Thanks for your help.

Some of you said that you lowered your GST Limit to something closer to stock. What do you have your limiter set to?
