Question about new recall
So with the new recall that reflashes the ECU, how do they determine a flash that is done by the factory and a flash that was done by the aftermarket? Obviously the tune itself can be confirmed, but if you use an aftermarket tune and flash back to stock, how can they tell which tunes were flashed in and out? Also what about the counter the ECU keeps that says the number of times the ECU has been flashed, that should get incremented when they do the recall, correct?
Just curious and want to understand the process better.

It is related to the factory reflash that was mentioned in the GST basemap thread. My dealer mentioned that I need to have it done.

This is what I received, I'm COBB flashed, not sure how this affects me.
I do get the brake warning flash sometimes, but only when taking tight turns at speed while slowing/drifting a turn.

I just received my recall in the mail yesterday. It went from my hand to the garbage. For one, my car has been tuned so that already changes the ecm and Im figuring the tuner changed things to where this wont matter anyways. Two, I have a 2010 with just under 60,000 miles and havent had an issue so Im not worried about it at this point.

i'm interested in what this actually changes. basically someone with a near stock car needs to copy their OEM ROM, take the car in for the update, then copy the updated ROM and compare the two to see what actually changed.
My car is too far from stock to even consider allowing them to do this with...
