Flex Pipe for UICP

I am a month away from starting the Evo X Turbo swap on my RA. I just received all the Evo X OEM parts needed including the upper and lower intercooler piping.

My question is, what improvement is made by switching the UICP to a hard pipe rather than using the stock Evo X flex pipe? I know it looks cooler, but lets talk real-world performance gain only.

Because the pressure is high, the flex pipe gives way and that causes a loss in pressure so you are losing efficiency, turbo response, psi, etc. when the pipe is hard there is no fluctuation in air pressure which causes the above to improve quite a bit. In a turbo set up, stuff like that makes quite a decent difference! .

^This.

You can also do a search. IIRC AMS tested several parts, including their UICP.

Here's the link to give you an idea (and yes, I know it's an X)...

Most will agree, any hard pipe will do.

I swapped in hard pipe (for cosmetic reasons) and expected no gains but was pleasantly surprised as I felt the boost come on harder ("more bite") if you will...

I would do it again just the quicker response.

Oh, I guess I should note I DID NOT pay $75. We made a deal for far less shipped.
