ETS Evo X Intercooler for Ralliart?

Hey everyone, forgive me if this has been clearly touched on elsewhere, but I can't seem to come to a clean cut answer.. I would like to upgrade my intercooler real soon, preferably aftermarket as opposed to a used Evo X. The ETS intercooler for the evo bolts up to the ralliart? I already have ultimate racing UICP, and don't want to have to convert from ultimate racing to ETS, so I'm curious if I can run the ETS intercooler advertised for the evo on my ralliart. And I know I'll probably need a reducer coupler to fit the LICP as well, 3 to 2.25 or something close to that? Any details would be great. Was originally going ultimate racing but apparently the size of it creates issues with installation and I plan on doing this myself, thanks.

Ets intercooler works with UR piping. You might have to trim the upper ic pipe a little so you don't bang up the hood.

Yes, it fits. I have the ETS 3" intercooler for the EvoX on my 2010 RA.

probably. HPS is a good source for couplers of all types and very high quality t-bolt style clamps.

Great, thanks for the details guys. And when you say trim the piping, couldn't I just remove the second silicone coupler from the ultimate racing pipe to accommodate for the taller intercooler? Or is trimming a usual portion of the work needed to be done when upgrading the intercooler?

The ur ic piping is longer to fit the ra ic. When I did mine, I had to trim a small amount off so the piping wouldn't hit the ets ic outlet and would fit flush and not bang up my hood.

The actual pipe itself is? Because I know there are two silicone couplers attached to the intercooler inlet portion, because the ralliart OEM unit is shorter than any aftermarket product. I figure just removing a coupler and adjusting properly would make it work yes? I'd probably need to see pics to understand the whole fitment issue and trimming process

They might have changed design since 09 when I did it.

Either way, from the reviews I've seen ETS seems the way to go. Plus their prices are very good. I'll be looking into getting the intercooler and lower piping done real soon, just got a protune on my Accessport yesterday and the car feels great! Moving onto cooling

Even after removing the coupler that made the elbow longer for use with Ralliart intercoolers, the elbow was too long with a EvoX sized Intercooler. I had to trim 1/8" off the lip of the UR UICP elbow at the intercooler end to get the pipe to sit low enough that it wouldn't push up on the plastic trim and the hood above it.

Ah okay, now I see what you're talking about. Was the trimming process fairly easy? I'd imagine with the proper equipment it shouldn't take too much time to do. Despite us having a smaller turbo could I just upgrade to an Evo X upper intercooler pipe around that time? Or will it not fit with the turbo outlet?

You will need a reducer coupler to fit the outlet.

That isn't too big of a deal, will there be issues with that plastic radiator cover going back on? I've heard of instances where it doesn't go back on at all without trimming or extra fab work.

After you trim that small piece of pipe off it fits like factory.
