Ralliart Exhaust Manifold Crack

Today I went to pickup my 2010 Ralliart from the dealer after a scheduled maintenance and was informed that I have a small crack in my exhaust manifold. The dealer wants $1650 for parts + labour since my vehicle is at 75,000 and past the 60,000 warranty coverage on the part.

i was wondering what my options were? $900 just for the manifold seems quite extreme and i cant go to an aftermarket one since it might cancel my power-train warranty and I want to keep that for now. Has anyone tried welding the crack or is my only real choice an OEM unit?

Any info/opinion helps.

(BTW in in the Toronto region).

Cheers.

Unless you bought an extended warranty your powertrain warranty was already over at 60,000

EDIT: wait are we talking about KM or Miles? Maybe the Canada warranty is different but the US powertrain one ends at 60,000 miles. Might be over also cause you're probably close to the 5yr mark on the warranty.

What he said. Based on the skimming I did with that thread the manifold should be covered under warranty. Find another dealership and get a second opinion.

I'll try contacting another dealer. From what was explained to me by my dealer is that the manifold is only covered until 60,000km/3 years under the new car bumper to bumper warranty. Once that warranty has passed the manifold is no longer under warranty as they do not consider is part of the power train but an exhaust component, this lines up with the link Raikiri provided me with.

I'm gonna call around a few other dealerships in Toronto and Mitsu Canada and see what can be done.

Find a used one and take it to the dealer unless you can uninstall it yourself and have the crack repaired. It will probably cost $200 to $300 to have a crack repaired though.

for 900 i would just upgrade to an Evo Turbo and manifold. You can find them second hand for 500 to 700 usd.

So looks like im out of luck as far as any warranty coverage goes. After speaking with Mitsu on a few occasions, they will not warranty the manifold after 3 years. My options are now to either find a used one or have my current one welded.

I'm gonna stop by Zoro Muffler in Mississauga on the weekend and see how much for the fix, cheapest might be to take the manifold off myself and than take it to a muffler shop to get welded up.

Wish I didn't get the extended warranty because aftermarket would make so much sense now.

Yea the extended warranty is strictly power train. I dont understand why the manifold isnt covered. Granted it doesn't actually have any moving components but at the same time the turbo is bolted to it and thats covered.

this is an unfortunate issue that hopefully will have an aftermarket solution soon

we've all be waiting on CBRD to make a manifold but that never came to be, now driven fabrication is taking up the torch... as its a good business plan to have the monoply on a replacement manifold... exspecially now with the guy from turbos r us building oem frame turbos

speaking of that turbo, thats a $750 rebuild... theres one gent ive talked that to slapped one with supporting mods on his base model lancer and is making 305whp on what ever dyno at 12 psi, sounds promising for those of use not venturing into x frame turbo land

Direct Mitsubishi Parts.com has them for sale for $480. Same thing happened to me a couple years ago and I went thru them. If you do decide to use them though make sure to check the product number because they sent me an X manifold the first go round...I got the X platform now so I guess it all worked out. I hope this helps
