Request: Has anyone taken off their hood vents?
Not sure if there is a thread already, but I noticed my vents are F@cked already and are showing the white plastic under the black paint. Barely a year old, which is G4Y, but whatever...
Figure I will take them off and plasti-dip them, but was wondering if anyone has already done this and if you have any warnings/suggestions before doing so?

Just remove the 4 10mm bolts and pinch the black retaining clip from the underside and push them through with your hand. Just make sure you have a hand to catch it on the other side.

I took off my center scoop but didnt paint it. I cut the two vents in the aluminum to the same size. Take a look into the center scoop, one side is a bit smaller..btw VERY sharp edges.

So I did some investigation on my own. The middle scoop had 5 10mm bolts. 2 are visible on the forward part of the scoop, the 3 others are under the metal shield. To remove the metal shield it appears that you have to remove 3-4 metal wire round clips at the back of the shield. Looks like it will need needle nose pliers. However, the front side of the shield looks to be attached to the hood lining by some kind of fastener. Unfortunately the head of it is flat and doesn't appear to be easily removed.
I think I'm going to skip removing the hood scoop and do my mod with it still on.

Might want to refer to this to remove the scoop.
