painting FMIC
I'm installing a evo X FMIC on my ralliart and want to paint RACING on the front for looks. I was planning on making a stencil and spray painting over the top of it. So I have two questions 1. What paint should I use so that heat can still be transferred (engine paint)? 2. is this going to seriously decrease the performance of the IC?

All of the aftermarket IC's have some lettering on them. I figured black paint on gray IC and you'll bairly see it. Just a nice accent if you know what your looking for. Any more opinions? I was thinking the word would have to be real short as you couldn't paint very fine details on that mesh. I'll be posting pics when I'm done.

No they dont, in fact most dont.
Black on silver is anything but "bairly" noticeable. It will stand out.
As for your original question, no the paint wont hurt the performance due to it being such a small area being covered and any paint designed for metal will be fine.
