how bad did i mess my clutch up?

ok i went to launch i was at 5k rpms sliped the clutch and floored it the rpms shot up to redline and the car didn't even really move! i had it there for a few seconds and the i started smelling that bad burnt clutch smell now the clutch doesn't engauge smooth and the car feels a little bit slower! will the clutch smooth out or is this how its going to be? can someone please help me out here thanks

Are you on the stock clutch? If so how many miles are on it? It could be time for a clutch upgrade.

ok its the stock cluch with no mods on the car and i have 3500miles on the car i just got it! did i f**k it up already i did it 2 times and the car would not go anywhere?? i guess i just suck with launching! if i dont launch anymore will i be ok? or is it to late? thanks guys

drive around and see if your rpms will shoot up randomly. if they do, its time for a new clutch.

Yep^^ Although, the clutch restrictor pill could be messing with you. Take that out, wether you get a new clutch or not.

You can always do the top gear test. Put it in the highest gear at a stop, slowly let the clutch out with your foot on the brake, if it stays running.... get a new clutch.

But how many miles are on the car itself?? I didn't want to know how many you put on it since you've had it. Unless your car has 3500 miles on the odometer, which is REALLY low for an 8. Drive it around town and floor it every now and then and see if the clutch hold or slips. Does the shifter still go in and out of every gear smooth? As far as launching goes id say you're done until you get a new upgraded clutch.

mine did that when i had too many people in the car on a hot day, then i went another 5k still drag racing before it finially went out.

ok the car it self has 3,500miles on it! the car pretty much didn't move in first and second thats how bad i burnt it (it smelt bad) and i had three people in the car! so you guys are saying that i really messed it up and it wont drive the same way again???

p.s. i had an 04 bby and i just bought a new 9 mr se! i never launch with my old car but last night i couldn't pass up racing this vette witch i last badly and looked stupid too! i did it two times and i really wish i didn't!

i think it was because of weight in the car same thing happen to me and i keep racing more than ever, but my clutch is gone now and i'm at 12k
