28psi on stock motor and stock turbo?

I was played with my Apex'i AVCR for a little. and turned up the boost to 28psi.(it was at 21psi) the car pulls alot harder on the top end. I was just wondering if this is safe boost leave to run for a daily driver? I barely beat on the car coz I am too scare if something break. the car is pretty stock except for HKS 272 cams, Apexi down pipe, Exhaust.

Get a tune, there are some cars around here that see that much boost daily with almost the same mods, but you need a flash to be able to attempt to do that safely.

It's most likely not as fast as you think. Dial the boost back down to ~22psi and get a tune.

If you want to run that much boost, fill your tank with race gas or get an alky kit... then, of course, get a tune.

On E85 tuned, that would be fine.
On 91 or 93oct untuned......knock knock knocking on heavens door.

Why remove the kid?

I will tolerate a peak 27-28 PSI under the following conditions:

99 RON (approx equiv to 93-94 PON)
Inlet MANIFOLD temperatures under 60F
Airbox mod, 3" decat turbo back exhaust
Continuous knock monitoring with in car display and log to SD card
Lots of work on MIVEC, ignition timing, wideband fuelling - although MIVEC and ignition are more advanced than stock the fuelling in the midrange where it spikes is considerably richer

Pulls much harder in the midrange, doesn't hold that boost to the top end.

I wouldn't try this without careful setup and monitoring, perhaps some of the safeguards I have in place above are missing in the original poster's setup?

However, before some of you get too excited, the 3 year warrantied UK FQ360 with a cat in place spikes (briefly) to 26 PSI on the equivalent to 91 PON and doesn't break...

I ran 28psi all last year on pump 93. You need to tune for it though. With an 8 you should def upgrade the fuel pump.

You should only run around 22psi on 91-93 pump.. After 22psi your stock turbo cannot effectively make power without knocking. You may pick up 25 or 30hp, its not worth the 7k you woud have to spend to buy a new motor. You will also want to replace your head studs. Look up a volumetric efficency chart for the stock turbo on 91-93.

People, he knows he needs a tune, he is just asking if it's ok to run 28psi on stock turbo and motor.

28psi is too much for stock motor and turbo, unless you run meth. Upgrade fuel pump is a must! I hope you have one already.
If you are scare to break the motor, why would you want to run 28psi on stock motor?
