Relax a little guys........
Ok guys, this is heading in the wrong direction......let me clarify:
People make mistakes in life, it is not the mistakes they make that count, it is what they learn from that mistake.
My car was tuned by someone who has tuned several aem's before and at the time the aem was a fairly new unit. All the bugs were not worked out, it was not out long enough and most tuners were learning as they go.
With that said, I've gotten tons of PMs with people asking me "What shop is this?, they must suck" "I dont want to take my car there" and so on and so forth.....that is not the purpose of my post. I wanted to know if anyone else went thru the same situation because 7 people within the same time period blew their motors because of a tune that OVERLOOKED certain features of the AEM.
Who knows?, hopefully this mistake was picked up and is not being overlooked anylonger. Was I pissed off? HELL YEA!! Am I still pissed? Wouldn't u be?
To blow a motor over something so simple is really upsetting but I havenot and WILL NOT put down an entire shop and badmouth their work because of the mistakes they had not learned about with the tuning of the AEM.
Hell, from what I hear Jason Seibels himself (the AEM So-called guru) is still learning almost on a daily basis little things here and there about his own system so lets give the guy the benefit of the doubt..........
Like I said Hopefully for everyone's sake, this is now isolated cases. But in the meantime, I can speak highly of BUSCHUR RACING because I know David for quite some time and he took the time to explain to me in detail EXACTLY what was done wrong with my tune. Showed me the difference in how HE TUNES and how my tune was at the time. Mistakes were made,
Were they done intentionally?, I know ABSOLUTELY not. Would the Dude hurt me on purpose? Hell no..........I know that, he has helped me out before, and that is the reason I WILL NOT BAD TALK ANYONE. But facts are facts the tune had flaws and the motor blew because of fail safe features ignored..
If this can help anyone, so be it........Is it to trash talk and bash anyone in particular NOOOOO!!!! For those who are considering an AEM unit all I have to say is A-S-K Q-U-E-S-T-I-O-N-S!!!!!!!
Aems are not for everyone and Aem's are not tuned alike by all so......take time to consider your options.
And DUDE, I know you will get wind of this post eventually, if you have not already, but I'm biting the bullet on this one, and you have my word I would never drag you down in the mud............Take it as you wish, cuz I know you can be HOT headed like me but I'm the one with the car starting from scratch.........
Like I said, We all make mistakes, it's WHAT U LEARN FROM THEM.........Thanks, and GOD BLESS

I really hope all the folks appreciate the amazing attitude going on here.. I am so impressed to see that there are people out there who understand that people make mistakes, and if you can learn from them, you can benefit.. It sucks to have to spend money, especially if its really not your fault.. But I feel I need to shake your hand and say that this is probably one of the most impressive things I've seen on this forum..
Eventually people will figure out this stuff, and your right, tuning is a learning curve, and the tools are always evolving.. Although a poor tune is a poor tune, if the tuner/shop is willing to stand up for their mistakes then it makes the entire community a better place.
Very well put!

sorry to hear about your misfortune, to be honest you are not alone, and as the weather gets colder you will soon have other aem evo's in the north east joining you. Bottom line is if someone is going to tune an aem they should have some prior experience with stand alones."Someone" can talk the talk but that dosen't mean they can walk the walk(TO MANNY DESKTOP TUNERS OUT THERE WHO NEED TO GET OUT OF THE BUISNESS),just because you can stir some sh it up on a web page dosen't mean you know what you are doing. At leat your with dave now, and i would consider that good hands.
Best of luck
i hope everything works out for the best

While I agree that we all have to learn from our own mistakes and each others, the oversight in these 6+ cases could have been avoided by reading the AEM manuals for about an hour. Settin gup knock control is not difficult to undetstand.
If you're a professional, selling your services to the public though these forums, I would expect that you understand the basics of the product you're selling me. I don't expect to be an opportunistic "learning" experience and have to pay for the resulting failure due to a lack of experience, knowledge or preparation. I like to pay for my own mistakes, not those of others.

I just remembered the RX-7 with the small block you spoke about that day......
I was the Dude with the Peacock blue 81 Toyota Corolla with the 406, p-glide and big 33's in the back, and several Toyota Starlets back in the day.......
Thank YOU Malibu Jack for seeing my point of view from a mature stand point before all the buzzards come out to feast on this one............GOD BLESS

And yes brother, the trip to Buschurs will be well worth it. I can honestly tell you from my heart that these guys are one of the greatest guys I have EVER met in the years I've been involved in this hobby. And that is why the LORD continues to BLESS them the way he has....Because they are the most honest, straight forward and DIE HARD bunch of car freaks I've met in a lon long time........GOD BLESS' EM.
It is not just the parts they sell, but the truth, honesty, experience, and advice that comes along with them is simply priceless
