I just remembered the RX-7 with the small block you spoke about that day......
I was the Dude with the Peacock blue 81 Toyota Corolla with the 406, p-glide and big 33's in the back, and several Toyota Starlets back in the day.......
Thank YOU Malibu Jack for seeing my point of view from a mature stand point before all the buzzards come out to feast on this one............GOD BLESS

I was seriously considering the AEM before I got the flash. But I do more research after reading Metaphysical old post. I do track days and in order for me to run on the track for a long period of time safely with the AEM, I basically need a good tuner to tune AEM for me at the track, and set up the knock sensor well. In order to do this I need to find one who's willing to go to the track with me, even if they do, it will cost a fortune and very time consuming since I don't know nothing about tuning the AEM. Beside that, I still have to deal with some drivability issues like cold start, hasitations, retune...etc. I understand the AEM can get the most power out of the motor but just not the system for me. I think Metaphysical decide to sell the aem even after Buschur tuned it. AEM is just not for everyone and there are always trade off.
Good luck with the rebuild and hope you get back to the road soon!

i had the stock ECU, S-AFC, Flash, Then the AEM.
The AEM was by far the best tuning tool i have ever seen. The car idle's like stock (With 272's), power is linear and perfect, lots of little perks (like the built in shift light). It was the nicest setup i ever had.
the way the car ran before the Before and after the AEM is like night and day. The AEM will be one of the first mods i do on my new car as soon as i purchase it...
i am still trying to decide whether to go with the GSR or MR..........

I am still considering the aem setup but due to my situation Im riding blind If possible are you going to post the rebuild?

Well, I still have my AEM, the tune is very safe now but I have to get the cold-start/warmup and gas mileage fixed (and replace my DP that I dented to hell). I'm going to be in the NYC area Friday and someone on the forum offered his services so I may try to get everything straight this weekend.
Also, a big part in this equation is not having a Air Intake Temperature Sensor installed with the MAP conversion, which my tuner that's mentioned in this thread didn't install nor did he turn knock control on.
And yes, the AEM isn't for everyone, I'm anxious to give it one more shot now that I can throw everything at my tuner, like the 30 degree weather.
Later,
JD

You sir are a total Jackass.
I posted a PM to reply to a question you had in the forum. I try not to get involved in petty bashing and the like, no time.
Either way just to make it clear I have run 3 seasons on the same engine at over 152 mph in the 1/4 mile, securing quite a few wins in the NE area.
For all to see here is the PM I sent to you:

AEM can as much teach someone to tune as you can teach someone to paint like Picasso, it is something gained through prudent judgement, and a mechanical and electronic understanding of a set of systems. With tuners the results speak for themselves. Tuning a car is tuning a car, and it helps to be familiar with software features but the most important is the mind of your chosen tuner, he must be able to choose the right steps to get the desired output without costing you more than the cost of the tune, there are alot of tuners out there but not many good ones, choose wisely and ask to see a track record of reliability coupled with the requisite performance.
I have a season of victories and 2 NHRA wallies that says I have some idea :-)
