Could someone please help me by listing a compare/contrast of Speed density Vs MAP. Pros/cons, anything to help me better understand the two and their differences. At this point the vagueness of my knowledge is limited only to the difference in terms. Thanks guys!.

The only things i gather from the two are the following:
Open element air intakes and VTA blowoff valves can be used without the computer misreading the airflow. But, i heard that speed density is harder to tune accurately....Maybe someone could chime in and explain why...

I hope that helps a little, maybe you could pm gurujack, he knows a lot of stuff about this topic.

GuruJack eh? Will do. Thanks for the help, and yeah i know yo can use speed density to work with open element intakes and VTA BOVs but i just wanted to know the differences between that and the MAP, which is more accurate or tunable or which is ideal for what situation and such. Thanks tho i'll pm him now.

I would say that if the car will be used as a daily driver, you should stick with the MAF, but if it will see a lot of track time, go with the MAP set up. The MAP will offer less restrictions, where the MAF will give you a little better drivability.

Thats not true. Both setup properly, offer the same drivability. Once again, its only as good as the person setting it up and tuning it.

/\ good point on the tuner. many cars have gone well into the elevens on piggypagcks. It really depends on the knowledge of the tuner of that particular system you are using

the way i'm doing it is by registering my car in a county that doesnt have to have emissions, but i'm in idaho

Depends on how they test emissions. If they just do a sniff test...lean it out. If they hook up to the OBD2 connector...switch back to MAF for emission testing, then go home and switch back. A pain but that's what I'm gonna do if my car is ever finished!
