The factory strategy for 1g, 2g, and EVO is available in the FSM, with nice digrams too.

I picked up 8 mph on my car switching from the base cal (evo8) setup to my own. People could be doing very well on the base map, but I have to believe they would make more power if they worked with this and set it up properly. Maybe on the 9 cal they spent more time and got it right, I never looked at it.

What procedure, the spreadsheet? Please elaborate a bit. A screen shot of the graph would be great.

the last time i fiddle with inj timing, it was with a tme turbo....

i think i tried a flat 0 / 90 / -90, then did a et compare...or a took the flat 0 map, then plotted rpm against the 0 rpm trace....i then went back & tuned.....wasnt a huge gain for me....however i picked up a bunch of drivability improvements....

my inj tim map is way different than the aem base.....

funny thing, depending on the cam you have in hte car, your inj timing needs will be different.

inj timing & what the waves are doing within the runner need to work together...in saying that, your inj timing value @ 5k can be different than @ 7k.

i do know, a while back, i had this strange dip @ ~6,400 rpm on the dyno & i couldnt find anything in data, ok afr, no knk, then i went back to my inj tim table & I had some old hks cam stuff in there. made the table a flat 0, dip was gone!

with my fp-red in the car & once i go e85, i will DEFINATELY be tuning / tweaking this map...as i will be flowing so much more fuel, i will want to be injecting this wisely.

I used this to do a real world test and found it helpful. I still need to sit down and do some math to get this 100% correct.

I found my graph to be similar to the evo9 map given by aem.

This is why I recomend that 99% of people just try to emulate the factory injection timing. Cam/valve timing has little effect with that strategy.
