AEM EMS Tuning Anyone??

Anyone have any experience doing an AEM EMS engine management? What are your personal opinions on this setup?

Most of the vendors on here use the EMS. IMO it is the best EMS for the evo, has the most features, and people are most familiar with it. Find a tuner near you, and talk to them about it.

Excellent product, great support, most widely used standalone ECU for the EVO8.

Very easy to use, it has MANY features that the other ECUs do not have, and it is proven to work.

The AEM EMS appears to be a very powerful and versatile unit. However, there are some caveats that musdt be mentioned. The AEM EMS is not a toy and it's not easy or simple to setup properly and to operate.

If you cannot fully use it yourself and If you choose the wrong person to buy it from or to set it up you are going to be sorry as hell. I speak from personal hard experience. There are not a lot of people out there who can reliably setup and tune the AEM ems. If you end up having problems with your setup and your dealer/installer cannot or will not support you, you are **** out of luck.

Also, the AEM EMS will render your car unable to pass emmissions tests. If you end up buying all sorts of modifications and going all out, you'll need expert help and support to get it ready for emissions testing.... If your "support" decides to abandon you, or you do not trust them to properly and effectively do it, you are in real trouble.... Beware of high pressure sales and be extra careful of rosy pictures and fast talking. Promises made to you can be as solid as the wind....

Yes, the AEM EMS is a good solid unit, but it's only as good as support and customer service you'll get with it, unless you are very good with these types of things.

Very, Very, powerful tuning tool. Took my stock evo from 13.4@100 to 12.7@107. The only other change was a c. delete pipe. (I run @ 3000 ft.)

Its not for everyone because it gives you the ability to destroy your engine with a single keystroke but if you've got a handle on what an engine wants and needs then the AEM will give you the full opportunity to prove it.

true dat, but not to forget.... You must know how to use the software. and you must know how tune a car. There are tons of parameters which must be properly set. Lots and lots of adjustments and sensor positioning, etc.
Also, you must have a very good working understanding of fuel injection management in theory and practice.

Before buying an AEM EMS, the propective buyer should open up the software and see if he (or she) understands the interface, and the basic works of an internal combustion engine. Oh yeah, if you want to run away in fear when you see all those screens and you have no clue of what to do or how to even begin, just remember, you are not alone. Your buddies will be just as confused and so will almost every mechanic within a 100 mile circle of where you are. And please, do not believe half of those who assure you that they know the system and can tune the car. The other half should also be highly suspect. Remember, talk is cheap, but money talks and bullsh!t walks (like walks away with your money while your stuck with a bunch of stuff that you can do nothing with and nobody can help you).

The most important words to remember are: Caveat Emptor....
