Has anyone been doing this?
I am sure there are a few. I heard a rumor that there have been a few that have popped motors on ethanol. Is there any truth to this?
Also if possible can we fill this thread with info and tips for tuning for the track.
All experiences are welcome of course!

We are possibly moving two of our sponsored Nasa Time Trials Evos and a sponsored Time Attack Evo (street class) to E85 here pretty soon.

As usual, I will try and post as much as my findings and data as possible.

I believe RRE has some Nasa Evos run E85 currently

I've ran Streets of Willow on E85 before @ 25psi of boost and no probs. I run 28psi for daily driving. Only thing that sux is i gotta haul up at least 20 gallons of gas with me in the back seat to the track and i kill 3/4 of the tank in two 20 minute sessions. Here's a good thread with tips on E85:

I havent heard of any problems with people having engine problems. I have had it for a few tanks now and so far so good.

Well ..... You can expect 30% more consumption at WOT. I'm getting 5 miles per gallon on the track. So I'd probably get only 3mpg on E85.

I don't think I could haul enough for a lapping day. I don't even like hauling 12 gallons of 110 that I split 50/50 with 93.

I have a 14 gal. tank with pump I can tote around.
I dont care about consumption concerns more along the lines of motor dangers.
IE; people who have had it out on full track days and any gremlins/experiences that where unseen.
I have had some comments but I would like to hear more and more in depth if possible.

I am finding that i enjoy having the e85 on my "weekend" evo... the only thing i have noticed is that it tends to eat spark plugs for breakfast.. well and lunch.. sometimes dinner =) lol

Other than that i am happy with the fuel... i don't know if i would convert my daily evo to it though.. b/c you do fill up more than the premium gas.

ya its not a problem with my 03 as to the fact I can run a map switcher with little modification.
plus there are 15 e85 stations within a 25 mile circle of my house with 3 being within 5 miles of me.
Its really a win win for me, the extreme hot weather during the summer is horrendous for trying to run 91, while I use 100 for AX and the track, there are more stations for the E85 and its cheaper!

I know of at least one Evo that ran E-85 at the Redline Time Attack event in July. O h and a girl drives it. RRE tuned it.

Anyone else having a spark plug eating problem with E85? I've never head that before.

I can only imagine that if something is wrong.

Plugs gapped too wide? I have mine at 0.020".

Or pehaps problem with coils? Like too much spark? Never heard of that, but I can imagine it would not be good for plug life.

Im going on 1000 miles of E85. No spark plug issues yet. Gapped at .026. if i go any smaller the car starts acting funky. Although i was tuned at 28psi, im only running it at 20-22psi until i get the head studs in place and get a few more miles on the car with E85. I actually turned it down to 18 psi for the last autox...
