surplus engine
Need help in finding a surplus MIVEC (2nd gen) engine for my 1997 lancer. Are there any available in the States or New Zealand. My sister resides at North Carolina and my brother in law lives at New Zealand. A surplus 4G-63T from an Evo 4 up will also do.
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are no 4G92 officially offer in the US ...we didn't get to taste the power of the MIVEC. In addtion, it's very hard to find a 2G MIVEC 4G92 for 97+ Lancer since the production number for the MR is far less than the previous gen (which engine is 180 turned, can't use that in your car).
However, if you have the patience and of course $$$, you should be able to find them in Aussie. I knew a guy in US has brought one from Ralliart Australia.
Here is a link to a salvage yard in Aussie, test your luck there:

I'm looking for the same thing for the same year. I have a mechanic friend who is scouring around for me at the moment. I will post when I know more.
PS He's going to try to get me an FTO front cut, engine, tranny, diff, computer and all that hoo-haa.

Drive it like you stole it.

Ok, thanks for replying. Just let me know if you have one already and where you got it and of course "how much". Got some relatives there at Australia.
Do we have the same car? A 1997 lancer (pizza pie type tail light)?

fuel/air mgmt
Thank for your reply. Finding such engine seems very difficult and costly.
Another option I'm thinking of is installing a "fuel/air mgmt device". Sorry for such novice term on this gadget. How does it work and how much more power can it inject in my stock 4g-92 engine? What brand or type is appropriate?

I think it is the same lancer. Triangle tail lights with the indicator lights in the middle. I think in 98 they moved them to the bottom and filled in the gap in the boot. (where the number plate goes).
