or

Do these cams really need a larger turbo to see effective gains?

Thank you very much.

i had them on a stock turbo, the BR500 and the AMS GT35R, so i'll go ahead and throw in my knowledge.......

the stock turbo cannot push the volume of air that the Jun cams demand. i saw a drastic drop in high end power w/ that setup. now, on the larger turbo setups, hold the "F" on, because that's where they shine. if you're sticking w/ a smaller turbo, stick w/ the HKS cams or cams along those lines. just my opinion.

I tried to place an order for the jun 264 from you guys. The answer was "we cant get them"
I called around and the wait time is almost 3 months for the 264. It is my understanding that Jun is out of cam stock material for the moment. Is this the case or can you (AMS) supply the 264 Jun cams in a timely manner?

Thanks

Ted-
how would you rate or compare the Jun cams vs cosworth M2
Here are some specs for comparison:

HKS 280
Duration: 222 deg @ 1mm lift Int / Exh
Lift: 10.8mm Int / 10.2mm Exh
Lobe Centerlines: 110 Int / 110 Exh

Revolver 262/264
Duration: 222 @ 1mm Int / 223 @ 1mm Exh
Lift: 11.4mm Int / 11.5mm Exh
LobeCenterlines: 109 Int / 111 Exh

JUN 272:
Duration: 235 deg @ 1mm Int / Exh
Lift: 10.8mm Int / Exh

Lobe Centerlines: 110 Int / 115 Exh
since this is cosworth spec sheet

It makes it difficult to compare the duration at 1mm to the Cosworth cams since they rate the duration at .010" vice the 1mm used by the others.

Thumbs up

if anyone wants some "man" cams, get the Piper 290 drag cams (part# MITS1741-solid lifters only. valve spring kit VSSMITS also required). here are the specs:

Duration@1mm-242deg (int), 242deg (exh)
Duration-
290deg int, 290deg exh
Valve Lift-
12.0mm (.472"), 12.0mm (.472")
Timing- int 39-71, exh 71-39
Full Lift- 106deg (int ATDC), 106deg (exh BTDC)
Valve Clearance- .006"/15mm, .006"/15mm

can only be purchase thru dentist mapped. i may run these with a Cosworth head. if not, i'm looking at Tomei 280's with 12.0 lift...

I agree that without standard duration numbers reported by Cosworth, it's difficult to tell. However, looking at what is reported in the way of duration, it appears to me that the Cosworth cam set is a bit milder than the JUN 272.

As far as those Piper Race cams, with a whopping 242 deg of duration at 1mm and ultra-tight 106 deg lobe centerlines, you'll have a tough time just getting it to idle at 1200rpm.

base on the information that you have, will the cosworth cams compare themself to the juns, since they do carry a 11.0mm lift ?

Again, there isn't enough information to be certain, but the effective difference in peak lift is very small considering the headflow data that I have. The JUN has 235 deg duration at 1mm (0.04"), which looks to me like it would be slightly longer than the Cosworth M2.

If installed straight up, the JUNs will be a little more top end oriented due to the centerline differences.
