3071r? Just curious...
Hello AMS
I was wondering about your thoughts on a 3071r? Y'all sell the 3076r kit and wonder why you chose it over the 3071?
I assume the 3071 with the correct housing (non-ATP) will spool much quicker than the ATP version or the 3076. Also since the GT30 series are based off a 50 trim, the ball-bearing 50 trim should be really close as well and I think the 50 trim actually pushes more air (bigger inducer)..I could be wrong...
Wouldnt it be about the best street turbo, least lag and that holds boost (30psi) to redline while operating efficiently on a stock 2.0L block setup?
Just curious when I try to identify what the best street turbo upgrade would be ATP was high on the list till I read about the ineffiencies with it. But, I have faith in the 3071r or the 50 trim.
The 3076 seems like it may be laggier for street use, not sure about the 50 trim.
Now, the 2871 is probably the quickest spooling, but I don't think it has as much potential compared to GT30 turbos.
Thanks for any education provided!

AMS did make the 3071 kit up until recently....I have one. This is an incredible street turbo. They told me they don't make it any longer because it did not sell well. People wanted more power. Call and talk to Mark or Eric, I'm sure if you want one they can get one for you.

Running there(AMS 50 TRIM KIT) I will tell you this kit is amazing! The 50 trim spools up very nice and I think for a street/drag car it produced enough power for me to be very happy. I would recommend the 50 trim for anyone looking to create a lot of power and who does not drag race all the time!
I just placed an order for there 2.3 stroker kit. I will let you know what spool up will be. It's gonna be sick though!

2003lancerevo8 - Personally, I think the 50 trim is too small for the 2.3 up top. I would suggest moving to the .82 AR housing or even going upto the 3076 (with .82 AR) or even the GT35R for a 2.3L. Good excuse to sell your turbonium. Is yours a 50 trim dual BB or just a basic oil-cooled 50 trim?
Evo-Ate - I would love to hear about no's you made. What do you see full spool at? Are you running cams? What fuel mods?
I wouldnt mind the 3076. But, I hear that full spool is 600-1000 rpms later which will put it around 3800-4000? I could be wrong. I am talking based on research done.
I believe what you are saying though - If only ATP would re-engineer their freakin housing...

On the AMS turbo kit, the BB 50 trim outperforms the 3071 in all areas. It spools earlier than the 3071 and makes more power up top. We tested both back-to-back on my car.
