Surge tanks are awesome in cars that have fuel delivery issues due to the design of the factor fuel tank. We run a surge tank in the Time Attack Evo which has spent the majority of its time on the street. 4000 miles were put on the car in one week during the 1 Lap of America competition. With a plastic fuel tank which is impossible to sump, a surge tank makes perfect sense in a drag racing application.

There is no draw back to a surge tank setup. Safety is not an issue if its mounted in a good location.

cool good info thanks man i apreciate it. i've seen one explode during exposure to high heat weather. thats why i'm kind of "ehh" about it. but that was the ONLY one i had ever seen. so who knows if it was built right or not.... this is the first time i even hear of them again, i've also been out of it for years.

Nice so now i guess this will not be a street car. So is this going to be a drag car only?

Are you guys still useing 1600cc injectors or did you have to go higher. Another ? now that it's sitting at that hp rateing will it use c16 all day or your going to also tune it for pump. I would love to see a dyno run with c16 and pump gas just to see with that kinda turbo how much in number loss will there be.

It would be impossible for a properly designed surge tank system to explode the tank due to pressure.. There is basically little to no pressure in the surge tank. It is connected back to the factory tank by way of the factory return line system with no FPR in line. All excess fuel and pressure is bled back into the factory fuel tank thru a basically open line.

This is still a street car. There is nothing about it that makes it any less usefull on the street.

Its running 1600cc injectors.
For much over 600 whp, race gas will be needed.
The car made around 500 whp on 93 octane.
The car made over 600 whp on 93 using our Meth injection kit.
