I certainly don't agree that the 3076 is a turd, but I DO understand why many people bypass them in favor of 35Rs. Many nicely set up 35R Evos have spoolup characteristics that are just barely slower than 3076s, but are capable of making a solid 75 more whp. For example, Scorke posted up this 2.3stroker/3076graph last month. It is a beautiful graph, but that is just about all the power you are going to get out of this setup.
Here is my 2.3 with 35R at about 27psi on a safe road racing tune. Spool is just as good as the 3076 above but makes a little more torque just about everywhere other than the small peak area. This was the tune we used for the Redline Time Attack when I pitted next to the AMS car earlier this year. This same setup should be capable of ~585whp and 525wtq at 32/33 psi, maybe quite a bit more. I think this was maybe what David Buschur was getting at.

Key word with his was stroker.... I will be going with a 35r with the stroker that is just one bad *** setup if you ask me.

The last time I checked, you will need a laptop to switch between maps with an AEM, so that shouldn't be the deciding factor. Did AEM come up with some new multiple-map storing features for the IX? If you are going to stay with the 3076 when you go to the stroker motor, you don't need an AEM, put the $2,000 you save towards other cool AMS products...

John, switching maps with ECU flash is just as easy as doing it with an AEM. And if you get a palm pilot with USB you don't have to lug around a laptop. You don't need a stand-alone to run a stroker and 35R. Granted you have a lot more adjustability with an AEM but it's not a requirement.

Right the big part for the aem is also because I am running the hfs-5 kit and I want to be able to take full advantage of my failsafe's... now as far as a laptop thats no big deal because it's not like I will be switching maps 10 times a day so I won't mind, when I get the stroker I am going with a 35r shortly after,

On a side not I really don't think I was anywhere near the MAX of what this turbo can support. There was boost left on the table(30 psi tapering to 26), I was only using 272's which you were using too Smoggie but they are pretty much small by todays standards, also on stock intake manifold and a recircd wastegate. I think with all those things taken into consideration making over 500 would be easy.
