AMS takes 1st place in TTR class @ NASA Time Trials, Autobahn
After installing and dialing in the new JRZ Suspension set-up last week, we decided to take the Time Attack car to the NASA Time Trials event held at The Autobahn Country Club in Joliet this past Sunday to see how it stacked up against some competition. It was a great turnout and the weather could not have been better. With the car in the low boost piloted by Lawrence Loshak we were the fastest car of the day with a 1.29.7 lap on the South Course securing the 1st place finish in the TTR class.
Here are some high-res rolling captures of the TA car:

First I’d like to say Thank you to Martin and the AMS crew for giving me this opportunity to drive this animal. The car was so meticulously prepared all I had to do is drive. The level of professionalism within this team is very confidence inspiring. It’s an honor to drive for AMS.
Now the fun stuff! This thing passes modded Z06 Vette as if they were Toyota corollas! The biggest problem, the only problem I had was getting a clear lap. No gap is big enough. It eats the road and climbs speed like a crotch rocket. For the final session, we gridded first, to give us at least some open track until we caught the tail end of the field. Well, that lasted about 3-4 laps. But it was enough time for us to be able to lay down the 1:29. With some more laps, some more adjustments and dialing in the car more, I believe a 1:27 is very possible. That’s insane considering CSR DPO2 sports racers turned a high 1:23 at the last SCCA national. A GT1 car turned a 1:28. Still not impressed? These cars run on bias ply slicks!
I drove the car before with the Ohlins and the new JRZ package is still young but already faster. Big difference in how the car puts down the power and weight transfer. Braking improved too. BTW, when I did drive it last time, it was on the north course. We set the new track record for a door slammer at 1:04.006. That’s almost 2 seconds faster than anything that has ever gone around that track (excluding open wheel cars and sports racers). Actually a West Sports racer was doing laps at 1:03.006 with a SCCA National driver. I also got word a certain SCCA WC GT Vette does a 1:05.5. With the gents from AMS of Puerto Rico in the passenger seat, we still were able to lay down a 1:05.
The funny thing is, they're still looking to go faster. What’s even funnier, it will. I can’t wait to see what TATOO will do.
Thanks again to Martin and everyone at AMS. I cant wait to drive this thing again.
