Question regarding Turbo upgrades: FP Green Vs. Mitsu TME?

hello,

You guys tuned my car last August at 366hp (on 110) with the stock evo8 turbo and stock intercooler w/ supporting mods etc (see sig). I am looking into either the FP Green turbo or the Mitsu TME turbo and upgrading to your intercooler. I am looking for 400+ on 110. Will both turbos be a direct bolt on? And in your opinion, which would be the better choice - I do road racing, not competition, but lapping day events - etc. I might get into some Autocross this summer also.

thanks.

I know AMS will Chime in here but the green is good turbo and will produce some good numbers on higher octane. I don't know a ton about the TME turbo but I thought I read it might spool up quicker which would help in those areas.

I would look into the green personally but we will of course see what AMS has to offer.

I would run the Green if it was between the two. The 30R kit will get you close to those numbers on pump gas though

hiya - If I would go with a "kit" I'd just go with a 35R if i'd spend that kind of $$ - autocrossing is not very important, and I'd assume that it'd be a little laggy for those short courses.

also, the fp green would be a direct bolt on w/ current mods - no?

thanks.

Green all the way...IMO if you go below a GT30r the green is the way...I wouldn't bother with a 50trim kit as the power difference is not big enough to justify the extra money spent. Just my .02

I don't know, there are a lot of 500 whp 50 trim turbo's out. I had one, most of the greens are in the 400 range.

Mine was on pump gas and meth

The green is probably the way to go.

I'm going to go with the green at this time, easiest and least expensive upgrade.

turbo xs utec

i am looking into a turbo xs utec. i've got the stock ecu right now, and i'm using my laptop to switch between the 93 and 110 maps you gave me last year after tuning my car. Would the utec be a wise choice given my upgrades, I know I'd be able to easily switch between maps. I'm also upgrading to the fpgreen. Should I get a wideband? I dont plan on doing much tuning myself, I'd bring it back down to AMS after turbo, FMIC and utec install.

thanks

I would stick with the factory ECU or go AEM EMS. A wideband is a great tuning, monitoring and diagnostic tool.

Just a heads up.

You will need the compressor outlet pipe from an evo9 for a complete bolton. Also you'll have to slightly bend your water lines to fit IIRC.

Most people do 780's with the green.
