AMS Tests: Jared's 2.3RR Powered EVO 9 GT35R to 850R!!!

Recently we swapped out the GT35R on Jared's car for an 850R and did not change anything else at all. These runs are both done on 100% pump 93oct with no additional injection systems.

The turbo spools about 100-150 RPM slower and made a decent improvement on pump gas only. The difference in the power up top is very exciting as this will grow exponentially as the boost level is raised and the full capability of this 700+ whp turbo is realized on race gas.

The car responded very well to the turbo, and this was mimicked by the changes it would accept in timing and fueling, presumably due to the lower back pressure levels achieved.

Quick modlist

* -AMS 2.3 RR
* -AMS Race Head
* -AMS 850R Turbo Kit
* -EXEDY Twin Metallic Clutch
* -AMS VSR
* -AMS FMIC
* -AMS TBE
* -AEM EMS
* -JRZ Pro Series Coilovers

Boost levels?

Any reason why the pulls were started at such varying RPMS? Could the lateness of the start of the pull for the 850r be hiding some of its spool and tq in the low/mid range, just seems that the 850R might of been slightly handicapped by it?

What cams? And I assume that both graphs represent the final tune for each turbo, right?

Both turbos are being run at the same boost level 23psi.

The difference in starting RPMS isnt the cause of much difference in the spool times.

Any difference is equalized by 4k rpms for sure.

The cams are FP5R's.

This is the final, highest hp tune for each setup.

Was the car tested running the stock ECU or does it have some EMS platform?
