Question on AMS 850r turbo

My car has a T4 Flange and it looks like the 850r uses a T3/T4 Style, what would be the best way to tackle that problem?

Cut off my T4 on the header and re weld on a T3/T4, or is there a T4 Hotside for the 850r.

I don't want to loose any power whatsoever, so I would like to know the best way possible.

I called, didn't know who I talked to, but they didn't really seam to know much about the 850r or even who made it when I said AMS 850r :-p

Thanks.

You talked to Ian and it seemed to me that he was pretty informative on what you needed but thats ok. Sometime people don't understand me either.

We can get you a T4 hotside for your GT850R no problem. that would be the easiest way to get this on your car. The big question is what kind of power are you looking to go for? A T4 will i'm sure make more peak power then the T3 but it will spool a little later. if you are looking for the best spool then a T3 header would be the way to go. Peak power, T4 housing using your existing header.

Hope that was a little clearer

That was on the dot, the simplest answer I was looking for!!

Power goals are peak power (who doesn't like the big numbers :-p) Want to see 700to the wheels.

On the other hand it will be a street driven car.

What are we are we talking for a trade off in peak power at 700awhp betweent he T3 and T4?

If we are talking 10 no big deal 20-30 then I might think about the T4...

Thanks Eric!!

To be honest I would be guessing at best. We have not tested a T4 Housing on the GT850R. I know on GT35R counter parts a T4 housing will typically add anywhere from 200-600 RPM of lag depending on the size of the housing. If you were to go with a T4 Housing close to the same A/R I would think maybe 2-400 RPM of additional Lag or maybe less. Again every turbo reacts differently so without actually testing them its hard to say.

I went From a T3 .63 A/R housing to a T4 .64 A/R housing on a GT35R powered 2.3 Stroker DSM. To me the spool difference was hardly noticeable. Again your results or impressions may vary.
