AMS Mini batt
I had a ETS mini battery and the damn thing finally died in the cold of upstate NY. I ordered a AMS mini kit and was wondering how it will hold up under the snow and cold of upstate. I know the website says it will survive the cold of chicago( which i know can be cold as sin) but can i get some feedback from people who have it and live in cold climates and how it holds up and starts the car on those cold as **** mornings

Was this an odyssey battery? or a super value battery? We haven't had any problems to date with the super value battery. I will be back in the office on Monday. Give me a call and I will see what we can do about getting your battery warrantied.
Thanks!

In Rochester weather, in previous vehicles using gel-cel mini-batts, I had to run the car everyday to make sure it had enough charge to kick over. That was on a higher compression 4G63 setup, but the mechanics are the same. If I left it for more than 3-4 days, it would need to be jump started. I ended up switching to a small-form higher crank amp battery that was still 1/2 the size of stock but had close to stock CCA.
But as with the weather, YMMV.

Care to let us know which battery you switched to?

The new red top batteries have been pretty tough. Even in our drag car (which obviously doesn't let a battery charge for long) it continues to fire her up every day. In the past the black top ones we have used would be a bit weak in REALLY cold weather but these new Red top ones seem to be pretty stout. I would not be concerned about it but I also would not just let the car sit outside in the dead of winter for more than a day or two without firing it up...that's with ANY mini battery.

My AMS battery sat for a few days and it was like artic cold here in the past few days. My EVO started up after a few cranks though.... so no problems here to report yet.
In addition, I also have a Deltran Battery tender which I have availible to me as well for when the car will be parked for extended periods of time.
