Wastegate Not Opening on AMS Turbo Kit? - Help?
Hey all,
Okay so I've been running an AMS 50trim turbo kit (externally gated) on my IX for a little over a year now.
Car is running a stock ecu flashed/tuned by Sean Ivey (awesome tune!)
Everything has been great so far, until I just realized my wastegate isn't opening when I go into boost.
Now I'm not sure how long something has been wrong, as I rarely ever go into boost. My commute is usually in traffic at all times.. so I never get to really get on it.. Tonight I finally got a chance to let it open up a bit, and I realized I wasn't putting out the power I normally do, and the fact that I could hear the exhaust (normally the wastegate opening is so loud, I can't hear the exhaust).
And then my EGT gauge started beeping, showing temperatures over 1600°
So my question is, where should I look first? What can possibly be wrong?
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Ive had problems with the tial gates before.
Open the wastegate and check the diaphram. That would be my first stop.
If that doesn't work, bypass your boost controller and go straight to the wastegate from the pressure source.
After that check your boost control lines and if you have a MBC, shoot some pressurized air into it and make sure that it is not stuck closed.
If that doesn't work, call your car a total loss and send it to me, free of charge.

Guys, I have the car now at my shop. Waste gate diaphragm is fine from what i can see, nothing is stuck and everything moves freely. The lines that run to the gate seem old and are dry rotted in some areas. I am going to run a boost leak test to confirm if there are any leaks. On a road test the waste gate will not open at a quick 23psi spurt...

changed all the lines going from the hks ebc and made no difference. I ran spring pressure and it opened up no problem at 10psi. I am leaning towards a faulty ebc. Will get back to you guys soon.
