BTW the spool on a stroker with a GT35 will be slower than a stock EVO8 turbo... If you wanted stock like spool with a stroker then I'd go with the GT3071, but you will not make 450whp on pump gas. Get the GT35R, it will still spool quickly and it will make over 450whp on pump gas. I made 468whp on our 2.0L at 24psi of boost. on the 2.3L that should be no problem.

Martin,
I used Pauter rods with my 2.3l stroker. No problems at all. How's the GT37R kit coming along?

Are you planning on keeping your A/C or did you already get rid of it?

I still have it but am willing to give it up as I don't drive the car often. Why, what do you have in mind?

We're working on a GT40-GT42 kit. This will be a kit that will be more for the drag racers and high horsepower freaks. This kit will not allow A/C. The GT40R will make about 700-725whp and the two trims of GT42R should make almost 800whp and 900whp respetively. The GT40R will still be streetable on a 2.0L, but the GT42R combo's will probably need a 2.3L to make them fun on the street. We will begin working on this kit by the end of the month and we should have some results in January. This kit will not be interchangable with our current EVO 8 GT turbo kits, since everything about it will be different.

AMS, how about using the exhaust side of your current GT35R kit and putting the GT40 or 42 cold side on? should make for a very intresting combo, and will not loes to mcu h driiveabitlity. just a thought.

thanks Chris.

Actaully I'm experimenting with something similiar but there are many issues that will probably make it not possible. Not all wheel combos are interchangable due to shaft size differences, back plate differences, frame sizes, ect... Also you dont' want a huge compressor wheel driven by a small exhaust wheel...it makes for an inefficient turbo... you get the lag of a big turbo without the power of one..sucks either way! I wrote a turbo article in Modified magazine about 6 months ago, if someone can host it, it's good reading material with some dyno testing to show exh. A/R differences and such.

Question

Sorry for the noOb question, but has anyone installed one of these kits on a stock evo yet? I'm interested to see what kind of gains this will have compared to the AMS stage I kit. I want to keep the stock turbo, exhaust, etc, but would like to have a little more hp with torque kicking in sooner than 3500rpm. I'm not looking to go for all out power, but would like to keep my options open later on Any info would be appreciated!

You guys should make product announcements like this (i.e. stroker kit, intake manifold) sticky threads. That way they stay on top and everyone sees them.

ok the turbine housing has a custom .63 A/R

For ross 9:1 and crower rods with gaskets you are looking at $1400.00 shipped.
