Recommended GPS Units ?
Hey guys,
any suggestions on which units are good. I've been shopping for one and just looking at the selection Garmin has is mind boggling. like seriously 250,260,350,650,660,750 what the hell? I kinda like the Magellan 4210 and 4250.
I don't need MP3,Bluetooth capabilities. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been through at least 20 gps units from Garmin, TomTom, Magellan, etc. and I can say 100% that Garmin wins hands down (Although other units may have some features Garmin does not - their maps win...)
I have the 760 now and it is awesome. If you dont need MP3, BT, etc then the 660 is on sale everywhere now and still has traffic service...

If you want to just use this GPS in your car, on road, get the Garmin. The Nuvi250 is a good deal. But if you wanna take it hiking, offroading, boating, etc Lowrance comes preloaded with the best maps.

^ agree, Nuvi 250 and Nuvi 200 are both good, the 200 i saw at best buy the other day is only around $170 ish. I wouldn't recommand buying fancy ones that allow you to store mp3s and photos and all that crap. just get a simple one that can tell you where you need to go is good enough.
Oh, and also make sure it can update the maps, some cheap GPS can use the map that's stored in it when you buy it. get the ones that allow you to download new updated maps from the pc.

I've read about the hackable MIOs GPS units which are esssentially a crippled PDA. Check them out, you can load any maps into them via USB and you can add additional features, such as mp3 player, video player...
The models I have my eyes on without spending over 300 are the 220,230, and 310.

Well after having both the Garmin 660 and the Magellan 4250 for about 3 weeks now i'm totally loving the Magellan ( surprise, surprise) The Garmin is a great unit but with all the AAA&POI,Sirfstar,Quickspell, sleek interface, QuickDetour feature and just overall look it gels perfectly with my car right under the temperature dials.
The Bluetooth feature is a bonus but not needed since I have it my GTS already. For those wanting the text to speech, voice commands and speaking of street names don't bother they are more of a nuisance than an advantage. I like hearing my chic tell me where to go but when she gets to chatty I start getting defensive towards her
btw I purchased both to try them out simultaneously so the Garmin is going back and another plus is that I received an additional 2 years service with the Magellan plus the updates are free.
