Are Drive-thru Car washes safe?

I was told that the drive thru car washes are bad for cars.
That the touchless car washes use too high of pressure and can ruin your paint and/or break things.

Is this true or is it safe to use them?

thanks...

the ones with the brushes aren't good coz they pick up the debris from the dirty cars and transfer them on yours...the brushless ones i've used once and they were ok, they just don't clean the car well enough if your're car's real dirty and they leave soap residue.

I"ve used the touchless wash a couple times with no problem.

For the most part I just do it myself in those coin-operated thingers.

Depending what color car you drive, is how I would rate them. If you drive a black or dark color I would avoid the brush washes. The swirls will really shine after only 1 wash. The touchless is nice but doesn't actually wipe off the grime on the paint. It also doesn't cover the entire car.

i'd stay away from any carwash with a track or rail to self drive the car through. Ur rims will get f'd up

Swirls can still appear on any car from washing and drying with old non terry cloth towels or just towels we all end up accumulating in our garages..haha......you need a full detail with a multi step wash and wax... swirl remover, etc....that will do wonders for the swirls you have on your ride LancerGirl08.

The ones with the drop down brush that brushes from front bumper-over the roof- to the rear will screw up your license plate/bracket.

It almost ripped mine off, resulted in a hole in my bumper, mangled my plate, and now my plate is gheto rigged and in a precarious position.

Yep, stay away from washes with rails. Two of my 17" wheels got badly damaged - thankfully they were only stock Enkies and nothing more expensive. I did get the car wash owner to honour a repair, though.

On summer, I clean the car myself in a driveway.

On Winter, I go to a carwash once a month to remove all the salt-sand under the car.

Nothing bad happened yet to my car, I always go to the same carwash near my house, which is brushless.
