New to Cobb AP and Evo X

Im still getting used to my 2012 Evo X GSR. So far I have installed the Injen Short Ram Intake w/ UICP and noticed a big difference in boost and torque. Im looking to do an exhaust at some point but keeping it stock for now. I was looking at the Cobb Access Port and was wondering if that is something I should purchase or not. I am trying to do as much as possible with out messing with my warranty. Should I even purchase this AP? would there be a big difference if I go with the AP and could I set it back to the "Facotry" settings incase I need to take it in for warranty reasons. any help on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Yes it will get you a nice increase, and yes it's easy to flash back to stock.

Thanks Kracka, I have been looking at it on Cobb website just now trying to get some more information. I noticed they did not have any maps for the 2012 Evo X stage 1 or stage 2. Those are just preloaded maps right? I dont need them to use it, I can tune it myself basically? If so can I save those "maps" that I created for furture reference if I want to flash back to a specific setting. If I do get the AP, what else would I be able to do with it to help the performance out with the car.

There are Beta's out for the 2012s, that's it so far. The injen intake is not one of the maps they have available yet though.

Just a word of warning, Cobb's support of the Evo X platform has been lukewarm so far. They say they've been working on some 'cool stuff,' but nobody knows how far along they are or when they'll be released.

Thanks guys for your inputs and opinions. I think I will hold off for now and wait to see if any "real" progress has been made with the maps for the 2012 Evo X's.

Just a side note, you are able to get a cobb AP and have a certified cobb tuner put pro-tune maps onto the cobb. You can then use the maps like any of the OTS maps produced on the website. Only down side if you would have to pay for the cobb and then for a the pro-tune seperatly.

^^^ What he said. You can always buy a Cobb AP and look for tuners that use it as a tuning platform so you can get individualized tuning for your car (which is better then OTS).

I'm on the same boat with a 2012 and I'm looking to get an intake and wait for a tuner. How is your car running so far? Do you notice any pinging, knock, loss of power under heavy load?

I'm also in the same boat, no good tuners around my area. If your a bit impatient like myself, you should take a look at the ETS intake. I just got it and it doesnt require a tune since it utilizes the stock MAF. A tune would still benefit it but it is not needed.

Car runs great after I installed the Injen Short Ram w/UICP. I have not noticed anything with it so far.

Judging from previous Cobb response to "soon" it might be a while for the next batch of maps to come. I just bought one a week ago and the stage 1 93octane set up is way too rich, there is 1-3 counts of knock when on boost, and the car overboosts past the 23psi it was supposed to be at up 28psi. Currently waiting for a response from an e-tuner or might just go get a protune soon here. It's still a nice little tool to have in the car instead of all the mounted gauges everywhere.

Current mods: Megan CBE, ETS UICP, Works panel filter, Synapse DV.

why did you grab a aftermarket BOV with not even bolt ons done yet? Pro-tune would be your best bet...

The Cobb ap is good but Cobb just sucks haha. Almost zero support to 2011+ evos! OP, the accesport might void your warranty just so you are aware. I've talked to both local dealers, and a guy who used to be a manager in one but not anymore and they all said the same story. Mitsubishi can tell if you tune/change maps etc. I bought the AP more than a year ago and Cobb was already saying the new maps were coming soon... Lol so don't count on that
