"Evo XI" rumors, speculations, and media reports.

^^ If that Yaris had 4 doors, I would buy one today.. Plus, it is just a concept, so it may never even see production. It would be a beast of a car though. 420awhp, and 30mpgs? And it would prolly way less that 3600 pounds?
I can't do a coupe tho..

Yeah that was the President of GM that said that, so you can count on a hybrid Vette, I'm assuming in a Z format, announced within the next few years.
And those saying that the Yaris "R-Hybrid" is "just a concept", well, so is the Evo XI. For all intents and purposes, we cannot trust that Mitsubishi will actually release it any more than Toyota will release their Yaris especially considering Mitsu has already scrapped the entire Evo line once.
In fact, I would argue that Toyota is more likely to produce a sports hybrid because they've actually made hybrids and are damned good at it as opposed to Mitsubishi.
I'm pretty sure the Supra will be a hybrid NA V6 also.

As you have made comment to, I am one that does not trust Mitsu and seriously doubt there will be a new Evo. I believe that if they release one, it will be many years down the line.

Confirmed by President Osamu Masuko:
The next-generation Lancer Evolution "XI" will be a diesel-hybrid vehicle.
“We will start work on the project next year, and it will be ready within three,” said Masuko. “I have set the goal of developing a sporting car featuring electric power.”

So with Nissan coming out with the R-Hybrid technology and now Toyota showing a concept Yaris R with the following specs:
- 300HP 1.6L L4 Turbo FWD paired with:
- 2x 60HP electric RWD
- "Super capacitor" for KERS-style power boosts
- Sequential gearbox
I don't know what this Yaris would cost but I'm guessing it will be easily double that of a normal Yaris, but it will probably be an absolute beast, given that a regular Yaris weighs 2400 lbs.
So if Mitsubishi waits until 2015 for a Evo XI Hybrid, literally everyone in the car industry will have something better
That's normal for Mitsu, though.

That's amazing but a HUGE jump in power from the current model Yaris. There was no ramp up whatsoever, just a substantial increase in HP for them, eh? Nice job Toyota.

Its kind of sad, but I actually had a dream last night about the XI being released. It looked pretty sick.. Kinda like a sedan Lotus with a spoiler. I wish I had some kind of photoshop skills.
I think you have issues if you have dreams about new models of cars..

Anything new, anyone? Tokyo Motor Show's here, can we read anything useful from the tea leaves? We're getting rather starved for information...
Kracka, anything newer from your sources?
