I have the launch control set to about 5k in my Motec stand alone, it builds about 8-10 psi boost and I seam to get really good starts even if my clutch lives a hard life now

perfect launch everytime i do this way! and i dont smell burn at all...maybe i got act clutch.
dont forget to let it cool between launch! keep practice,,,this is only way to learn.
I do the same. Works good for me. I do spin the tires if you get my rpm's going up too fast.

Not trying to sound like an ***, but I hate it when people do this. What did your comment have to do with the topic of the thread. The topic, in case you happend to have missed it, is about the different ways people launch their EVOs. Your opinion on drag racing has nothing to do with the thread, and matters NOT!

slipping is the key, dont dump it or you will spin. this same techique works for me as well. I know slipping the clutch will burn it up faster but id rather pay for new clutch than new t-case.

I was doing 5K rpm launches at autocrosses last year, but after dropping $2 grand on an Exedy twin disk & installation after the stock clutch died at 15K miles, I'm gonna calm down with the Exedy.

wow...great launch rpm insight noone in the DRAG RACING FORUM gives a rats *** what you think about a car's intended use.

I get my best results leaving between 5500 and 5900rpm wot on the AEM EMS soft cut 2step rev limiter. very quick slip of the clutch. I find setting the 2step rpm is the most important thing. If you get the rpm at the ideal spot, the car will pull out of the hole hard with just a hint of tire noise. Engine rpm will not drop down much at all. If you leave with alot of clutch slip to keep the engine from bogging, your probobly at too low of an rpm. Exxcessive clutch slipping is wasting time/distance on the track that your not applying full power. In that case your better off with slightly more engine rpm and faster clutch engagement.

Varrying the engine rpm to suit traction is better than trying to adjust clutch slip.
