Don't feel bad man!! We were all like that when we started. It is clearly a combiantion of factors:

You are not experience at the track
You are not being agresive with your launch
You are not being fast on the tree light
You are not reving the engine enough
You must disconnect the fail safe switch

I am 100% you can get at least a good 13.5 @100-103mph

Good luck!!

Not necessarily true.

Completely irrelevant...don't pay any attention to this comment.

Agreed...you should go over 7k in every gear...maybe 7200-7300.

Not true. You can launch decently with revs at 4500...or you can launch off the limiter. The 3rd option is disconnecting the switch.

You are not doing that bad for your first time. Like everyone said the intake and BOV are most likely not helping things, a tune would help. Also Temp outside makes a huge difference in my car. How hot and humid is it in NC? I stop running my car this time of the year and wait till it cools down a little. 80 and 90% humidity at 10pm is just to damn hot for me.

wow, finally someone who's worse at dragracing than I am

I ran a 13.8 at 99.3 in my 05 Evo with a boost controller, with a slightly worse 60ft, revving the car only to 7000. It sounds like you have the same problem I do. It is most likely your slow shifting.

Here are some videos of how I first started on my Evo 6 before I sold it. That is completely stock but I clocked 13.5 and 13.3.

13.3 run

13.5 run

Take note: The track was simply a street converted into a dragstrip (no VHT). Weather conditions 32 to 35 c. on street tires and pump gas. PM me anytime.

It's not a big problem in Jax. Yeah, it gets hot, AND it's on the coast, so it gets humid, but I drag raced my *** off the entire season for 3 years straight while I lived down there. I preferred the cool nights in the spring and fall, but I never missed a test'n'tune if I could help it. I ran one of my 12.1s in the dead of summer on a Saturday afternoon, so I don't think the weather is holding him back. I still attribute it to poor driving (for now) and an intake with no tune.

Keep in mind that the magazine drivers have probably 100's of launches under their belts. My first time out I ran like a 14.1 (with a BR stage 1 setup). Luckily that day I got in over 35 runs, so I had a lot of practice. By the end of the day I was hitting low 1.7s and 12.7-8

bov could not be holding boost as well, and if your bogging with the 5k rev limiter you need to slip the clutch more (dont let it up so quick), dont be afraid to hold the gas to the floor on that rev limiter- trust me the rev limiter is a good thing!

Just keep practicing, and remove the limiter.

What am i doing wrong gents this dam Rev limiter on my evo is very annoying and caused me to bog down a couple of times out on the track.

What can i do to proceed into the 13's?? All comments are welcomed...
What your doing wrong is your not launching correctly. Even with the rev limiter you can still get a decent launch. A rev limit of 5000-5500rpm is a good limit! What you have to do to slip your clutch at your preset rev limit!

Very true. Here, it reached 35 deg C. We had to spray water to the intercoolers before racing them. Damn, everyone sweats like a pig here.

I havent dragged my evo just yet....but i remember getting in my 350z running a 16 sec 1/4 my first time...yeah talk about failure..lol....But each time i went down the track i improved....my last runs in the Z before i left was 14.2 and a 14.0 flat....which is good for a bone stock Z. My damn problems were launches ...everything else was great...cant let that adrenaline rush affect you to much or you are going to kill your gas pedal and clutch...lol
