Let me start of by saying that this is my first time attempting to Drag my car so dont bash me for it

Mods are: HKS RS Intake, and Greddy Type-S BOV

Car is also on 9,500 miles and riding on Fuzion H-Rated tires (and do they suck)

What am i doing wrong gents this dam Rev limiter on my evo is very annoying and caused me to bog down a couple of times out on the track.

What can i do to proceed into the 13's?? All comments are welcomed...

How are you launching? What's your clutch release like? There are a lot of different schools of thought on how to launch an EVO. Personally, I've only done two timed runs. The first was a 13.4 and the second was a 13.1. Never dragged a car before this.

Brought the RPM's up to about 5000 and modulated the throttle (don't know if I needed to do that....) When the light turned, brought my foot off the clutch quickly (not side stepped just faster than usual....) and increased throttle simultaneously. I'm sure that my stock clutch didn't like it too much...(could smell it a little afterwards.....) but everything held together well. I don't know that I'd do it much more with the stock clutch. It's not worth the wear and tear on it.

Well with the 05 model, the 5k rev limiter really prevents me from getting a good launch...itll sit there and bounce from 5k to 4,700k...if i mash it when its going down itll just bog down and then pick up...the 14.06 time that i got was the only time that everything hooked together good

It just looks like terrible driving, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was your intake+BOV causing problems. There was no reason to get either of them, but people love to hear that whooosh!! If I were you, I'd try a few runs with the stock BOV and stock air box. I ran my 13.1@104 on the firsty try. My only other full run, I got snagged by the rev limiter, too, and only got a 2.4 60-foot time, but I still ended with a 13.8@101. You absolutely should NOT be in the 14s OR below 100mph no matter how bad you drive.

Do some completely stock runs to make sure your 2 mods aren't messing you up. If you absolutely have to keep those mods, then get a flash to match.

Also, if you're at Coastal Plains Raceway, that place hooks up like no other. You can run 1.6x 60-ft times there once you figure out the launch limiter (or if you disconnect it). I used to blast 12.1s down that track with the Talon.

You need to work on your launch, you need to work on your shifting, you just need to practice. I mean some people are telling you get your intake tuned, as if that's gonna make you a better driver? Look practice, just keep at it and you will get the hang of it. It's like learning how to drive stick for the first time. It can be frustrating at first, and you feel like you'll never get it right, then all of sudden you just get better at it and it becomes natural for you.

will tuning the intake help with stock exhaust??

Tuning is independent of intake or exhaust. What he means is that the addition of an intake to your car might require tuning to make it run properly. You can't just throw on something like that and expect it to run right. If you had just done a drop-in filter, then things would be fine and dandy, but with an actual intake system, often times you must get the Evo tuned in order to run well (flash or S-AFC).

If you get a flash now, though, you'll have to get another one if you ever add exhaust. IT's a pain...
