430whp camaro ls1 vs 440whp evo close or no contest

430 whp from the LS1 will give it mid to low 11 sec time slips.
If it were an auto, it would run 10s and woop you pretty bad. The 6spd is where he messed up, so count on mid-low 11s @ 122-126 mph.

It's tough to hook up a Camaro with a 6-speed without at least running ET Streets or equivalent. I'd figure that he'll have a hard time doing better than high 1.7s, and even that isn't easy. As far as the rest of the run, how are you making your 440 whp? Is that from a peaky big turbo on low boost, a small turbo on high boost, nitrous? Your powerband will make a difference, espcially if you don't get a perfect launch.

430WHP=Low 11s/Mid 11s???
What are you guys talking about, with slicks that car (the LS1) will run mid 11s at best and on street tires high 11s/very low 12s. I mean don't get me wrong 430RWHP is nothing to underestimate, but it is not enough power to run low 11s especially in a car that weighs over 3400Lbs.

LS1 Camaro is light in the rear as well. If he had slicks there is a better shot of him taking you on the launch. All in all, its a drivers race, you can debate this all day but the cars are so close it will be who can drive better to hit the stripe first.
A little FYI when racing him, don't let him launch on his burnout. That is where he will get the most traction. Have him do his burnout then pull up about 2 more feet.

Ok a quick visit over to LS1tech.com has helped me understand a little better, well yeah low 11s are definitly possible with the gears and drag radials, those cars really do hook up well. So I believe it will be pretty close, but I wouldn't be surprised if he took you. This is interesting change, but I believe if you raced him from a roll you would easily beat him, but from a dig you may lose. I guess the slicks/drag radials and the gears are the equalizers for AWD.
You know I don't know, why don't you just race him and let us all know who wins, I hate these threads because the people want predictions, which we give them and never get back to us with the results

From a roll (2nd 4k rpm in the EVO) EVO might hang for a while. Eventualy the V8 will walk u. It all depends on the power of the EVO. From a dig going up to 110 (aprox 1/4 mi) the EVO should win if you launch it.

From a roll, I say Camaro all the way. Evo has a shot from a stop, which is what I thought this was about. Sorry I dont street race most of my thinking about racing comes from the drag strip.

the only problem i have with that evo is its the 2.3L. The 2.3L can't rev as high as the 2.0L where turbo's like the gt35R start to excel. Granted yes you make it up on turbo spool and more torque, but i'd rather have slightly later turbo spool but have it pull to 9000rpm instead of having to shift at 6800rpm when spool up came in at 3300rpm

Amen. This is all speculation, anything could happen. Just race him and let us know the results!!!
