All the big turbo kits are out....Why no 1/4 mile times?

So a year ago everyone was trying to figure out how fast they could go with the stock turbo and all the big companies were just beginning to come out with their turbo kits.....

everyone was posting their times....discussing their setups.......

now...all the turbo kits are out....RNR, Buschur, Turbotrix, AMS, Slick motorsports, Full Race...Etc....which come in tons of variations.

anyway...it seems like everyone is taking pictures of their car with their setups...talking about what they bought....and here and there...some are posting dyno #'s.....

but i don't see any 1/4 mile times. We are all wondering which turbo will bring the daily driver into the 11's...or even 10's......

from what i have been reading, everyone and their mother is now running a GT35R, making 600 hp to the wheels......but.........(with Al as the exception).....no one has taken their car to the track.....whats up guys? Why is everyone getting these huge drag turbo kits and not racing their cars?

Great topic. I don't necessarily agree with you though. A lot of guys are drag racing their evos with big turbos, while others are road racing with them.

If your point is that many get the big turbo kit but are disappointed with track times, you are right. I have seen that repeatedly.

I got rid of a bunch of non Evo VIII and stock turbo results and there are still a ton of good times...

For the best prices on the market as well as the most complete kits i have ever saw i would highly recommend the slickmotorsports kit. I have gotten numerous people into slickmotorsports kits with amazing results. I just made 489 awhp on pump gas and alky /water injection https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=140077 and i can assure you that tons more is there. I took it to the track last tuesday on the 93 octane /injection setup to see how fast we could go and the heavy duty clutchmasters clutch gave up the ghost. The best i could do bouncing off the rev limiter through the traps in 4th was 12.3 at 118.7 mph (if you guys know evo gearing at 8100 rpms its about 125 ish mph so you can see how bad it was slipping). That was 25 psi . This turbo kit is a animal. The shift response is awesome and everything even with the gt35r. I still recommend the gt30r setup that i used last year on a pump gas flash and 25 psi to run 11.5 at 122.98 mph. That setup with the super duper fast spooling gt30r would go 10.9-11.3 at 125-127mph all day with good tuning. The setup i have now is there for when i build my motor. I just think you will be harder pressed to find a better company that will stand behind his work and product and the prices are awesome. I like pretty much all the turbo kits on the market that can be had with equal lenght manifolds but that one is top to me.

If it matters I only got one pass last time I went and ran a 12.01 @ 121 WITH a 2.15 60'. It lit the tires up so bad I had to back out of it so my 60' time all the way thru to the 1/8 mile was horrible, the 1/8 mile speed was under 90 mph, so I picked up 31 mph in the back half. This was all done on pump gas and 26 pounds of boost. Can't wait to get back and see what she will do. I did run the car jut like I drive it daily, 2 kids seats, full sub/stereo, spare and in the car.

that was with a old style log manifold not even the new (badas*) equal length manifold offered by slickmotorsports. That was 25psi and 104 unleaded (but running a pump gas reflash so i was missing about 30-40 hp of timing advance since i had no way to re-tune it). That was also 10.6 to 1 a/f's so super duper rich. The new setup i got was slipping the clutch so bad the one complete pass i made that i only ran a 82mph trap in the 1/8th but still ran a 12.3 at 118.7 mph with the clutch slipping really really bad. There is a amazing amount of potential in the new turbo kit. Once i get my new triple disc i will show ya!

Dave good job and believe me I know ur pain. It is always something with the turbo kits. U make more power and then drivetrain issues, lack of traction issues, and leak boost issues etc. It is like in golf when u take lessons. U get worse at first but after getting everything dialed in u end up reaping the rewards from ur investment. For the thread starter; I have a Vishnu stg 3 set-up with a gt30R and I have run between 11.6- 17 secs between 114-122 mph in the 1320.
My two 11.6 runs at 122 mph were with 1.83+ 60 fts on Vp 109. On my 100 oct tune My best is 11.7 at 120 with a 1.78 60 ft. My 100 oct map makes 450+ whp and my 109 map makes 480+ whp. Counting best dyno pulls 460 whp on 100oct and 494 whp on vp109 unleaded. I believe I am a cool night and a 1.7 60 ft away from 11.4 or better but I am satisfied for now. Them 60fts get harder with more power w/o slicks.

I love this topic. I tried to talk about one customers achievements but it seemed nobody cared they all wanted dyno sheets when I posted something better. A timeslip

According to Shivladden it is a 3037r BB Ballistic but it could be a 3076r. Like he can tell the spec on a turbo. I like the overall performance of the turbo. IMO the extra lag is not bad and it the extra power more than offsets that con. Car runs better than it did with the stocker did with 340 whp. Very streetable IMO.

Timeslips with trapspeed reveals all IMO. I like to carry my dyno #s over to the 1320 and I believe that I am puttin down comensurate numbers.

excatly....the trapspeed reveals a lot.

There are a lot of setups out there that peak a lot of HP but that is only at one point of the powerband.

For example...some people are making over 400 whp with the stock turbo...BUT...that quickly drops down below 350 for most of the powerband.

i would rather have a turbo that produces 390 peak HP but is constant through the powerband....you know? IMO peak HP doesn't mean much if it's not constant.

i personally am looking for the turbo that gives the most streetable HP with the broadest powerband.....

I am happy with my set-up but u might feel different. On pump gas the 3071 sounds like a decent turbo IMO. Not the ATP 3071 but one like Shivladdens with the adapter plate. Made 350 + on his heartbreak dyno. That is 410 whp on a DJ I believe or close to it give or take a few ponies.
