First time at the strip

Ok I went to the track yesterday for the first time ever. I ran a 13.296, witch would be good if I was stock, but I'm not.

Here is a list of the mods:
HKS FCON V-Pro Standalone ECU
Stage 4 BJCH Head
ARP Head Studs
780cc Injectors Ultimate Racing
272 HKS cams
Ultimate Racing Turbo-back Exhaust
HKS EVC 5 Boost Controller (21.5 psi)
HKS RS Intake
HKS SSQV BOV
Buschur Deluxe Intercooler
Buschur Upper Intercooler Piping
Buschur Mini-Battery Kit
Grounding Kit
Tein S-Tech Springs

Here is my times:

R/T .158
60' 2.049
330 5.735
1/8 8.688
MPH 83.07
1000 11.195
1/4 13.296
MPH 106.87

So other than my crappy 60ft time, what am I doin wrong? All my tunning was done at buschur, so I don't think its tunning. Also a buddy asked me if I power shifted , do you guys powershift? Any help would be appreciated.

What rpm are you shifting at? Your mph seems way too low for those mods.

Your trap speed is low which means your shifting slow or your car is down on power, but we don't know what your car put down, so that is hard to say. Your times are closer to a catback/Filter EVO than one with all your mods.

If I had to guess I would say you need the driver mod most of all.....keep practicing your times will get better.

Lastly, why do you have a big FMIC and a built head with a stock turbo? Neither one of those are helping you if you are running a stock turbo. Either way your times and especially traps should be much better.

Good luck

I have never power shifted and get good times but, you have people that swear by it so I would say try both and go by whatever you feel best with. Improving your launch would help your E.T. a bit but it would still be slower than what you should be at which is low 12's or high 11's with those mods. Have you checked for boost leaks? How about when you shift, does it feel like you drop out of boost or does the car keep pulling hard? Also what were the track conditions, temp, elev., etc. like? We need alittle more info.

My car has TBE exhaust 272's injen intake and a major boost leak I ran a 8.17 @ 86.70 with a boost leak, boost would spike to 22psi and fall to 15 @ 7500. I was 1.85-1.86 60ft on dead stock clutch. Only other mods are safcII stock injectors fuel pump and injen intake. Hopefully by next month I will have some non boost leaking and rps clutch runs done.

Car seems to pull hard after each shift with little to no lag. As far as a boost leak goes, how would i test for that? I'm thinking the majority of my problem comes from the driver's seat. Thank's for all the responses

Do you have a boost gauge? If not get one. You could also go through and tighten all the clamps on your intercooler piping just to make sure.

Something is definately wrong, you should be running a better than that. Even with a crappy 60' like that, your MPH is pretty low. I'd say get a tune and a clutch.

1) No reason to bother going to the track or getting worried about your et/mph if you aren't going to launch. Without a real launch, the rest of the numbers are useless. Your 106.xx mph is low for your mods, but a low rpm launch means you BOGGED, which has a MAJOR impact on both ET _and_ MPH. That would put you at 108-109mph at least on a real launch, which is still low, so maybe it's your shifting.

2) No sane man would shift at 7k on a built head with cams. What's the point of having a built head with cams if you don't go all the way to 8k or however high you can go? Yeah, the stock turbo runs out of breath, but you should at least be going to 7500 in each gear...maybe higher, but I don't know, because I have none of those nutty mods and shift at 7200-7300 for optimum performance. You should definitely shift higher...

3) Powershifting is a non-issue - it is not necessary to get a good time or mph.

4) If you go back and fix 1&2, then still aren't running 12.0 at 114 mph, then we can start diagnosing stuff like boost leaks and tuning. If Buschur tuned you, then it's tuned...not much else you can do there, but who knows if the whole built head and huge FMIC is working against you. Neither are necessary or recommended on the stock turbbo...

Your trap speed is way low, before you start to panic, get a helmet and go back to the strip, get more passes, and see what she is running, if you are still in the 106-108MPH range, then there is something wrong with your car and you need to get it fixed. With your mods you should be trapping around 114-116MPH, even on a very crappy *** pass, you should never dip under 110MPH if your car is making the power that it should be making which should be over 350WHP with those mods, maybe much higher. IMO if driven correctly, your car has 11 second potential with those mods.

1 pass? Hah, then no sweat. Just go back and get 4-5 runs...I rarely get a good run on the first try. I use that one to dial in the car and get used to the launch pad.
