It's an EVO! Nowhere in the "rules" does it say it has to be an EVO-8. So if a DSM came in from out of the country or an EVO-7 got shipped in from abroad for the event it can not run?

Otherwise - nice times from all you guys. Keep it up.

Sorry about the car, hoping you get everything worked out. Will you still be able to attend the EVO vs. WRX/STi Shootout?

I am going to hope that the rules are revised as to me its not fair to have to race a car which is 600 lbs lighter in that class. There are other classes for older bodied evos such as the bracket class or q16

There's nothing stopping you from gutting the hell out of your car and making it close to that light. You would still be eligible for that class. So where does everyone stop getting so picky with the comparisons?

You forget, Al's car is a street car.

No, wait, now it's a race car.

No, wait, it's a street car again.

I dont agree with you Al, I think Yusef's car adds a bit of diversity to the class.

The car is lighter, can't argue that. One of the big downsides is the room in the engine bay. I can fit a gt42 in an EVO8 no problem, but I would have to stick it through the hood on his car. Hell fitting a S cover t3/t4 is a b!tch on that thing.

Oh yah, he drove it the Shootout from Chicago also.

Well, if DB didn't toss the car from the Evo eliminator class, then there really is no arguement to be had here. Dave makes the rules up, so you gotta deal with him.

IMHO the class should be changed to Evo8 eliminator to keep the cars close and I think he should bring back the 4g63-Powered class since there are now a lot of oddball cars showing up:
starions with 4g63
mirages with 4g63
challenger with 4g63
colt vista with 4g63
older non-use Evolutions

I think putting them in thier own class seperates them from the crowd of all evo8 and dsm. Those cars tend to be either racecars that should run in Q16 or tend to be cars that just have a budget engine swap and aren't really there to be super fast/competative, they are out to show off thier interesting conversion. I bet it sucks to be the guys bringing slower 4g63 cars to the event that are stuck in Q16 becuase it's not an Evo or TEL.

I cant believe how much people care. In American V8 class races do they really say only full weight Camaro's from 1969 can run it? Who cares man... it is a car powered by a 4g63 that is full weight. Thats the point. If you want to go out and buy an RX7 and throw in a 4g63 good for you... a street car is a street car. I think Buschur's idea was to make it the motor powered car... not the car itself. Otherwise, whats the point of having them be stuck to 4g63s? Why not make it so you can throw in a turboed 350cid in an Evo? It will wiegh more if that satisfies you

Yusefs car is cooler anyways

Figured I would apologize... Im drunk But I really dont see why the classes matter I mean... it is racing after all.... you want a fast street car neat. You want a race car, build it like so It gives you more bragging rights if you can build a race car that still has AC and every comfort. I plan to have mine hit mid 10's and still have AC and full interior so I dont see why anyone else couldnt. And i thought all this was bracket racing anyways... so I would think it just means the reaction time is what wins it.

Nevermind... i guess it wasnt bracket racing. At any rate... Al's car is a race car plain and simple. Yusefs is pretty race-like also but admit that it is much less of a race car than yours. I really wish I could have had a clutch installed for the SO. I would run against ya Al

And if the wieght is that much of a concern why dont you shave more wieght from the car? Yours I am guessing wieghs around 3100 or so. His is probably more like 2700 so I am guessing it is only a 400 lb difference. You could have ran your bigger turbo and make up for the wieght.
