My style, is rev it between 6500 and 7500, on the 3rd amber clutch drop at around 7k. Wow does it get out of the hole fast. If I've got the pressures set right it's a 1.61-1.60 or less 60'.

If I've got them a pound to 2 off, its a 1.69-1.65. More then 2-3 pounds and they go up in smoke for the first 60'.

But every pass is with as long of a burnout as I can get, before crossing the stage lights. If not, doesn't matter what I have the pressures set to. The tires go up in smoke.

It's not for the timid, but it gets the job done.

If you're on the stock clutch, don't attempt this method. You will smoke the clutch.

It seems that getting into the 11 second arena is like crossing some sort of barrier. I thought i'd hit 11's also, but like you, im a few tenths away. Hopefully i'll have an updated time here in the next month or so.

Hey Warrtalon, you will get there, no doubt....hey i was thinking about your set-up. If im not mistaken i see you have the stock injectors, im sure you know you are about 2 mph away from their absolute limit. I have taken my 550's to 118 in my 1G, but it was lighter. On a side note....are you second guessing your 6 speed because it limits you, especially as you mod further?..

Aren't a lot of people hitting 117-118 on stock injectors like gsujeff/evildylan (in this thread), ct9a_gsr, evoonyoass, matt55, etc?

I'm not second-guessing my 6spd mainly because I don't plan on modding further, but if I were to mod further, I would have to raise my rev limiter to 8000 or higher in order to take advantage of the additional mph, at which point I'd be worried about the head. I would do head studs at least, but then wouldn't be sure what else I would need to do to ensure the head's longevity, so it's unlikely I'd ever go beyond 8000. Others are doing it, but since that level of modding is beyond my experience, I don't think I would unless I was at a point where I had a shop fully sponsoring my car or something (extremely unlikely).

What I've found is that the MR and its 6spd are a perfect match for me, my knowledge, and my modding ability. I'm not at the extreme edge of my knowledge/ability, so I don't think I'll ever go beyond 113mph. The challenge now is just to hit 11s while only at 113, and it will happen if I can get that one good launch...

Yes they are hitting those mph of 117-118, not safe unless you bump up the FP.Ive done it my self in my 1G at 3300 lbs. When i took it to the dyno for a base run those injectors were screaming!....plus i think the Evo has 560 cc injectors i believe. Anyways, good driving got you this far......it will get you get you into the 11's too..

i hit 117 trap speeds on stock injectors with stock fuel pressure, and about 85% duty cycle.

evo's injectors are actually something like 530 cc.

Well, when I finally get to the track, which I still can do down here in SC because of the milder weather, but I will definitely be calling on you guys for your knowledge and tips on launching these beasts we drive. I've been custom Dynoflashed too and I've attempted some mild launches and it's amazing the difference between before and now. My first goal is to get a feel for the car so I can build on that.

ive done several 117s and a 118 with stock injectors....but i am running meth, and a good bit of it...so my injectors aren't close to being maxxed.

what tire pressures are you finding to be best guys? i had mine around 28psi when i was blowing the tires off launching at around 5500.

and yes, 11 sec is some sort of barrier....ive been at a 12.0 for 114, 115, 116, 117, and now a whopping 118 mph. jeezus, starting to **** me off. especially when it takes a damn day trip and 100 bucks in gas just to go to the track.

In the past, I've been launching with street tire pressure of 35, but I found recently that it no longer works for me. I went down to 33, then 30, then 28 and still was ripping the rubber off my tires. I'm going to have to try 24 or so next time...

Yeah, I can't imagine launching with 35psi. Unless the track was super sticky. Though Warr, with it being real cold, the Advans are going to be super slick. Between the track being cold and them being cold, need to get some heat in the tires.

Hey gsujeff55, on the launch does it spin real hard, causing you to mess up the 1-2 shift? Even 114mph, should be 11.95's. Next time you're at the track, start at 27/27. If it spins drop them 2psi, if it bogs, raise it 2. The larger adjustments will let you know faster. Then dial in 1 or 1/2psi to get it perfect.

My tire pressures depend on the day/track, but with it being cold now, probably highest of 27/27 but probably more like 25/25.

OT
BTW, the burnout actually does 2 things. One get some heat in the tires and 2 cleans them off. The staging lanes and pit area are always a mess with rocks. Can either clean them off before or after the lights drop. If you're on an open stock diff, just be careful not to break it. Going from 0-43mph in a split second can have an effect on it.

i just do some clutch dumps and spin the tires a bit....never tried an actual burnout(holding brake, ect).

and no, i don't spin so bad that i mess up the 1-2 but i usually let out a bit or clutch in a bit before the 1-2.

Yeah, can't hold the brake. I roll through the water, stop, rev it up to 7k. Then drop the clutch, hold it bouncing off the rev limiter until the last point, so I can still stop before the stage lights.

Ok, I was wondering if that was hurting your time some. If it spins really bad for me, it causes me to have trouble on the 1-2 shift. Which causes me to be around .2 slow.

if you slip the clutch the right amount, you wont spin the tires, and you wont burn your clutch too bad. This has gotten me numerous 1.6x 60 foots.
