Smile MIR Midnight Madness - 12.433 @ 110mph

Got to do three runs tonight. Two 12.5s and a personal best of 12.433! Here is how the time slip reads.

R/T... .068
60'... 1.848 (Stock Clutch )
330... 5.189
1/8... 7.984
MPH... 87.45
1000... 10.399
1/4... 12.433
MPH... 110.64

Hopefully once I change the clutch the time will get closer to a 12 flat. Also my 2-step only got the boost up to 6-7psi ??? Overall I was happy with my personal best.

Good time! Is this on pump or race gas? I ask this because your sig says that your running 26psi.

Its on pump gas and no alky. I was tuned at 26psi peak at TT but it tapers to around 23psi pretty quickly.

Nice job on the stock clutch. I read your post on the DC Evo Club. Drop in that Exedy Twin and youre definitely looking at a 12.0/11.9 if you get a 1.6 60'.

P.S. I hate how fast the IX's are compared to my VIII. LOL

Whoa, testudo, not so fast. He's not randomly going to drop half a second just from the clutch. The stock clutch can easily run low 1.7s - that depends on driver, not the clutch. His 110mph trap is NOT going to give him a 11.9 or 12.0. This really is just an indication of how trying to run 26psi on pump gas is not the smartest thing. This trap speed is equivalent to 05s with less mods and 21-22psi. Hell, on that same track, I ran 12.3@110 in my 05 with a cat-back, mbc, and safc @ 24psi. I would be very disappointed if I had a IX with that much claimed power that ran like this. My 05 has never dyno'd that high. In fact, I put down 299whp right now and run 12.30@109.5 here in CO.

Always good to get a personal best, but the whole 26psi thing on pump gas is not showing to be a good idea. I'm sure that HKS SSQV doesn't help either - why use that over the stocker, which is far better????

well Ireally didnt pay attention to his trap speed, so you are probably right Clay. I was just going with my analogy of for every .1 you drop off your 60' you drop about .3 in the quarter.

34Turbo, what was your highest trap?

That's a poor assumption that many people proliferate. By no means does a .1s gain in 60' automatically lower the ET by .2s. That's usually seen when the 60' is something terrible like 2.0-2.2 or something. There's also no guarantee he'll hit a 1.6 60' on a good clutch if he can't beat 1.84 on the stocker. It's perfectly capable of low/mid 1.7s. Plenty of people have done 1.6s, too, but I wasn't that good. My best was 1.71.

My best on the stock clutch was a low 1.7 but my trap speed and 1/4 times did not reflect that. As I have stated on dcevoclub, I ran better times with my ssqv venting to athmosphere then with the stock unit, and I have ran more consistant times. There is an excuse for every excuse. In any case, I have no idea why you have a problem with me running 26psi since that was the way the car was tuned by Turbo Trix and it runs great. Now if you really believe that you can tune it better than them, I have no problem coming to you next time for my tuning needs. And no I am not getting tuned by Al. I just don't like him as a person and I really don't care much for his tuning.

BTW - My ssqv is holding boost better than my stocker.

I agree with Warr. you can do better with your stock clutch. I don't like the fact that you are tuned for 26psi either. I run a 12.4 with a high 1.7 sixty on the stock clutch and I don't show that kind of power. 315awhp and 300trq with only 22 psi. I am also running a cat. Anyway, a better clutch will take some practice to launch too. No guarantees but I like your run.

Well by my personal experience, this has been accurate. Because you think it is a poor assumption doesnt mean it doesnt happen. He will get faster with more seat time. I think it is a safe bet that once the stock clutch goes out and he gets a new clutch and some more track time he will get a very low 12.

Well, I got my best run after only two other runs. The first two I was able to get 12.56 & 12.50 respectively with high 1.7 60' times but I did not power shift from 3rd on those runs and shifted at 7K the first run and 7.5K on the second. Third run I chose to go with power shifting and also the 7.5K shift point. Ended 4th at 8K (yes thats where it was raised).

Forgot to mention the weight of the car as well I weigh in at 245lbs currently (260 when I'm off season training), with over 70lbs of weight in the trunk due to my system, spare still in along with my 20lb briefcase, a 5lb macheti and with brand new Kumho tires put on just 3 hours before I went to the track, with absolutely no race gas. Wait until the track temps fall under 70F, I remove the system, spare, and put in some race gas to avoid any timing issues. I am determined to hit 11s with this set up...
