evo8 vs 240sx

This guy has been bragging for the longest time, says hes some drifter, has 900 somethin odd hp in his car, and ran a 9.7 in the 1/4. Supposeably he has a sr-20 swap and blah blah blah. I dont know much at all about these 240's but i just dont believe it. Ill post a link to his myspace with his vids of him "drifting" and pics of his skyline that HE owns. My friends uncle had an evo and he said the guy wouldnt race him a yr back or so and also said he went to get his evo dynoed and saw the same guy with the 240's dynosheet and it said it had round 500 somethin, low 500. Im sorry that there isnt much to see on his myspace but i just want to know what anyone here thinks. heres the link, copy n paste.

Also, i thought after a certain tiem on the track for the 1/4 you are required to have a roll cage for safety precautions? I thought that was true but im not sure. Anyways, he has no roll cage in it. The one with the 900 hp and 9 sec car is the yellow one. You might not even be able to see much on his myspace and im sorry, but i was j/w. Also, sorry if this doesnt go with the forum section. But i basically want to know if it looks like this car could hang iwht a lightly modded evo or even a stock? thanks,

I CALL HUGE BS!!!! As a former SR20 powered 240 owner i still have alot of love for em, but i hate dumb***es like this! First off: Making 900 HP on a SR is hard as hell! He'd better have that stroked and a hell of a large turbo which would make it next to impossible to drift (Lag)! Even if hes making 500 he'd still have a hard time drifting. There are only 2 SR powered 240's that drift professionally that make 500+... One is Miki Ryuji in the Top Secret S15 Silvia. The other is a guy in cali (check back issues of Super Street) that has an S13 coupe making around 550! Ive seen pics and video of both those guys drifting and know they can do it, but 900...? I doubt it... Hes BS'ing! No wonder he wont race... Forgive my rant, but this is how i feel and what i know.

Hey thanks a lot tripper. I dont think hes drifitng with the yellow one though? Im pretty sure its the green one and that vid on myspace he has is supposable him drifting? So basically itd be hard as hell to make that car over 900 hp (well probably hard to get it anywheres near that) and to run a 9 in that car? I call BS on it too but i wasnt sure. I got into an arguement with this kid today who knows him and hes sayin " Well he got a sr20 swap! blah blah , He ran 9's! and the things pushin well over 900hp! plus hes drifiting with the green one he has!" I told him, Did you ever see a time sheet form the track, or a dynosheet form where he got it dynod? Thanks though tripper.

just a quick question ...

Is "supposeably" even a word?

Whatever, let's forget about that. The 240 guy is full of ****. I've worked on more than one SR20 and I am definitely no expert, but 900 is just not realistic. And like tripper said, the trashcan-sized turbo would make drifting impossible.

Yea i know how it is... Unforuately i used to be like that with the shop i used to run around with here in GA... I learned quick though. This is a guy that will tell these kids next to anything to get them to bring him business and just because he has a moderately fast 240 they believe him because they have no real frame of reference! Neither did i for the most part. I had my 240 that i thought was fast (SR20, front mount 3" turbo back, boost controller, BOV and made 241whp and 231 wheel torque) then the day before i picked up my Evo the guy i was buying the car from and I were getting on the highway. On the on ramp we were the same speed (he was behind me) then when we got on the highway he just blew me away! Thats when i got my frame of reference lol. Hope everything goes smoothly with you getting your evo and look forward to seeing some pics!

240s are slow, even with an sr20 swap. However, if it was a pulsar gtir engine in a 200sx, I would be careful.

lol Those are nice... There is actually a guy around here who is pissed at me because he has a 91 sentra SE-R w/ SR20, not sure if its out of a Pulsar or not (honestly not familar with the FF SR20's), but i beat the hell out of him running only 7psi (max was 14). There is another one around here that has the same set up as this other guy, but hes making 275-285 whp and he raped me... Would probably be different with the Evo now...

yeah, a stripped 200sx or NX2000 with a worked SR20DET will MOVE!

By the way, this guy stole at least one of his myspace pics from the Chargespeed website

Here is the myspace pic:

It's the 3rd one over in the top row here:
http://www.chargespeed.com/english/n...ekisoku-e1.htm

Funny thing is that he wasn't cool enough to steal the high res pic:

On an SR20? Technically yes, but it'd be pointless! You'd have to be running two really small turbos because you'd have 2 seperate exhaust manifolds one for each turbo and each turbo would only be getting exhaust gases from 2 cylinders. Thats why supras/skylines/300zx's run twin turbos because you can run a turbo off of 3 cylinders per turbo. Basically the head would have to flow enough exhaust gases to spool the turbos and its just really hard for 2 cylinders to flow enough air. So the only way to get twins in a 240 is to do a skyline swap or even a 2JZ supra swap (those are sick as hell)!
