After watching " millions "of videos on the web, witnessing "trillions" slow STI track times ,spending countless "months" on line reading about the STI I wouldn't even bit a dime for a STI. They are a decimal to the right of any Evo 9.

I put all my money, all my reputation, all my credit and all my trust to the Evo 9. Did I mentioned there was a 420whp STI (Greddy t67 AKA25G) plus NOS trying to break into the 12's at SIR while my friend Rob(fastrob691) ran a 11.9 on a stock turbo 9?

I just don't have the time to write up the 3 trillions unsucessfull STI histories to keep going, you just have to trust me. A STI with a GT30R presents no challenge to a good tuned Evo 9 with some good bolt ons.

In this case since you are talking about the Euro spec 2.0 STI I would say it is a close call but my comments above are mainly directed to the us version.
By the way, I do love STIs, don't get it twisted.

Carlos

I would agree that the subarus have a larger number of people trying unsucessfully to net decent track times than evos. But dont let that discredit those who do. You have guys in subarus going 12.0 on compelte factory jdm longblocks. Guys going deep 11's(one went 11.2) on fully stock 2.0L with factory cams and bolt on turbo as well.

A 30R STi set up properly should out trap a stock turbo evo on pump and race gas. There are always exceptions like the 420whp t67 car you mentioned. But you cant really use that when stock STi's have gone 12's. I'm sure you can tell me, but I dont know if evos have done this or not.

I think it will be close in the end depending on what AR he has, and as to wether or not he kept a 2.0L displacement. If I can trap 112.7mph making 306whp on a pump gas 2.0L using an PE1820 which is basically an STI turbo with maybe 40cfm more flowing capacity, then he will be looking towards the 120's easily.

I agree completely, EVO's have more potential then STI's, and it is easier to get to that potential. In the case of this thread though, it is hard to say unless they ran considering the uniqueness of the 02 STi.

the 2.0 STi is more potential engine than the US 2.5 Version, but also maybe its been out as long as our 4g63...

How much did you get on your gtech for 1/4 mile and trap?
What about 0-200km/h time?

Thanks

After reading this. I laughed so hard I cried. You made my day. But I know a few sti's that can hold it down. 400whp+ pump and 600 race gas. Much respect. I wish sombody recorded the evo/sti shootout

A good friend of mine just ran 12.05 in his 02 WRX with an SR40 and 304awhp/265trq. for comparrison. He just sold the car, but heres the specs / link to his track vid: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1149838 and the video http://www.ridonkulous.com/videos/12.05%20@112.1.wmv

I think the suby will take the win

Folks...this is an '02 STi--nothing like the '04+ USDM STI. It's got the 2.0L engine, not 2.5L.

It may be an EJ207 not an EJ205. Depending on which combo they get that can be a pretty damn potent motor.
