If memory serves me correct the Evo VIII 3rd gear gives you an extra 2mph at the same rpm as the IX and an extra 7mph over the IX 4th gear. That VIII 4th gear would do wonders putting the IX back into a much better powerband at the end of the track for anyone who is trapping around 118+ on a stock turbo IX.

^ You would think that but most guys don't see BIG returns from swapping to the eight 4th gear. Though not many of those fellas area still on the stock turbo either. I would recommend doing both the 3rd and 4th gears not just 4th.

Simply going to a 245/45/17 tire is about the same thing.

The one thing I noticed about his mod list was that he did more than just cams..... he also added an exhaust cam gear.

It's way bigger differenct to switch to the VIII 4th gear than to do 245/45s. 245/45s are just 2mph at 120mph. VIII 4th gear vs the 6spd and even the IX 5spd is quite a bit.
