just how long would the stock internals last with this kind of tune on a 50 trim?

A 50 trim cannot max out the 4G63 in terms of power handling so the motor can last a VERY VERY long time as long as the Tune is good.

I disagree with the comment that a 50 trim can not max out the power of the 4g63.. when you are into the 500 whp range you are maxing the capability of the 4g63... I should know, I was best friends with AMS for the last 3.5 years and spent many many hours talking with them. I was one of their first 500 whp 50 trim owners..

I disagree, also 500WHP is VERY VERY hard to get out of a 50 trim, and even if you do, it isn't beyond what the Evo 4G63 can handle daily. 500WHP is fine. Many shops of course reccomend a build, but they are also..

One should know that it is almost impossible to build a motor that has the tolerances from the factory. I Believe Cosworth and Jun are the only I know of too exceed this. I know of far more blown "Hey it's built yo!!!!!!1" motors Vs. OEM, there is a reason for it.

Well, I disagree with you. 500 whp is pushing it on a stock motor. I think AMS would know what they're talking about. 2003lancerevo8 and I both hit 500 whp on AMS' dyno. (499.xx @28 psi for mine, and I think 2003lancerevo 8 hit 497.xx, correct me if I'm wrong) AMS is not about dyno numbers like most shops. They give you a safe tune and we both respect their opinions on how far you should push the stock block.

thats pretty fast. I wish we had a 1/4 strip in san diego county. the closest 1/4 strip is over an hour away, and you usually will get 3-4 runs if you are lucky.

Again, As good as AMS is, they are also a Vendor. They would want you to buy a Built 2.0 or a 2.3. 500WHP is NOT pushing the limits of the 4G63. It just isn't, otherwise the 4G63 would be pointless. Sean Ivey has been running close to 580WHP on PUMP/Meth on his 2003 Evo for what, 2 years? It hasn't poped, and 500WHP won't pop a motor given a properly sized turbo and proper tuning.
