Trying to run better than an 11.6 on stock cams. Need input.
Well, last time I was at the track I ran an 11.66@117mph 1.67 60ft with my current setup that's in my sig. I am scheduled to go back to the track on April 13th to better my time and I would like to get in the 11.3-11.4 range.
One of my issues is I was running out of 4th gear and my powerband towards the end. I have researched for a solution on this site and have come up with getting a taller tire. One thread in particular caught my eye. I can not recall the members name but he saw an increase of 3-4mph in trap speed by going from the stock size tire to 255-45's although he was not on the stock turbo. Should I too see a comparable increase in trap speeds switching to this size tire?
I'm also taking 100lbs of weight out of the car along with installing a lightweight crank pulley. That's my game plan so if anyone has better ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Yeah I believe I have finally made my decision. Im going with Nitto NT555R 245/45/17's. Should give me good traction *possibly a high 1.5 60ft* since its a drag radial and an extra 1-2,mph trap speed plut it will still be a good useable size tire for when I switch out my Evo IX 4th gear to an Evo VIII 4th gear. Will see if the tire makes a big enough difference along with 100lbs less weight to knock off .2-.3 off my 1/4 mile time.

Problem is the speed is calculated as the average of the last 66 feet of the track. So 117 average could be (it isnt but bear with me) 112 entry and 122 exit. I have logs of 124+ at the finish line but I havent ever ran 124 on a slip. When I ran 118.7 for instance I had was crossing the line at 8050 with a 275-40-17 (about .3" taller or so is all than stock) which is 122 and change.
You are about 1000rpm over the powerband, at least. Weight and tire height will be your friend short of swapping to the 8 4th gear. Then you will be golden for awhile.

At 7845 redline with stock tire I was only able to trap 114mph. I went with a 245-45/17 and I was able to trap 3 mph more with just the tire swap and the same rpm.
