The only thing to come out of evom this week is a bunch of crying and excuses, If you have the timeslip, its awd, and its 4g powered it counts, if it is not then it doesn't. What is the next thing people are going to cry about? Anything over a 42r doesn't count? Anything over a 2.0 doesn't count? No a cage in a 9 second car doesn't count? It is all just excuses, stop complaining and man up.

It is my understanding that if you know someone is cheating then you go to the chief race steward and you file a formal protest at the time of the incident. You dont go putting it on the web like the stupid person that did. Maybe you should consider your word choice better mr b

Ground clearance rules are NHRA general rules, not class specific. They apply to any car running at any track for accurate timing.

I doubt anyone agrees it's an ok thing to do. It's just how you politely bring up the fact you are questioning a recent record breaking time. Why not just ask the 06MR car the height of his front lip on the record breaking time and point out your concern?

I agree there must be rules....what I don't agree on is rules that suit someones interest. Which is where this seems to be going.

So, gsnt, evil eagle, Ivey, Al and myself are in agreement that this is a rule to gaurd against manipulation of the timing devises and if done would actually be cheating?

Please the 5 of you verify.

Also, we just installed a device for this on a car here at the shop that we are running tonight. We are doing this to prove what an effect it will have on the ET's. I will take the video camera to the track.

For those of you that don't think it's cheating why not just get your buddy to stand on the starting line with his foot in the beam, let you get going and then he can lift his foot, it's the same thing and that BS trick has been done before too.

This is not suiting anyone one persons interest, it is suiting every single person in the racing world's interest. If it wasn't then NHRA and IHRA wouldn't have installed quard beams to protect against it and would not have written it in the rule book.

WAKE UP, the alarm clock to reality is ringing again.

See guys, it's threads like this that has ruined the sport of import racing. That is why there are so many rules in NOPI and BOTI. Too many people b1tched about each other, such as turbos, rear ends, displacement, ect ect. The only way to make everyone happy and keep the sport of import drag racing alive they had to set some rules.
It's sad that not 10 years ago everyone just ran what they had, the old saying stood tall and strong and that is "run what you brung!" And nobody b1tched! I dunno what started all the b1tching and when it started, but it grew like wild fire, and everyone jumped the bandwagon. They made rules to keep everyone happy. That didn't work cause people b1tched about the rules, and still do to this day. It really makes me wonder how much longer the sport of import racing is going to be around with this type of b1tching going on. Guess time will only tell.

I can't believe I am reading some of this b1tching and crying lately. People b1tching about solid rear axle conversions, hey when you start to break rear ends left and right, let me know how it feels and what you feel the best thing to do to correct the problem. I know if I could to a solid rear axle conversion on my talon I would, but rules prohibit me from doing so. I would like to think and know in my gut that the rear end is going to hold when I make it to the finals at some big event. It's a sense of security knowing that it's going to hold and your not going to make yourself look like a fool.
As far as this front lip deal, WOW! I mean come on, are you serious? NHRA rules state min of 3". If you cannot retain to the rule books then you don't belong in the sport. Period!
Thats just my 2cents.

AJ Foyt once said "If someone complains about cheating they are the ones that are cheating" this is because they cant understand why they cant beat you cause they are cheating.

I know most of the people on here don't even know who I am as I don't post very much but I think I will throw my opinion out there on this one.
It is very simple, to use an aid to cheat the timimg system is breaking one of the basic rules of drag racing. It is wrong at any track at any time, so I agree with david,Ivey, gsnt, jake(evil eagle) and whoever else believes this is wrong.

Now do I think that the car in question did this to cheat or that it even happend- no I deff. do not think it was intentionally done.
Also Al I am pretty sure that if it did happen the difference would be much less than the 2 tenths you are saying.
I didn't see this til today so I haven't had a chance to congradulate the driver but it's about time someone actually drove there evo to a good et to mph ratio.

Mike Reichen

P.S.- there is another 8 sec. evo in the usa
