I'm too scared to launch with 2 step.... It sucks when I'm tryin to run someone at the track cause I always bog then have to play catch up. Is 2 step the only way to get a decent launch?

No, launching from 3k is the WORST way to keep your clutch from going out. If you tried to launch an Evo from 3k, you would have to slip it for several seconds just to get started, and you would burn the hell out of the disc in no time.

The consistant feel of the 2-step building 10 psi at the line seemed to work the best for me on my evo 8. Not sure how the X will do with that combo but it does take a few variables out so you just need to have a predictable clutch release rate and you minimize clutch slip with maximum forward G's. Slow release will slip it and burn the disc, too fast and you may have a higher potential to break something. Medium speed release seemed best for my setup.

You can get a good launch without the 2-step. It's just makes it alot easier for someone who is not familiar with launching an AWD to get a clean launch. Without a 2 step you need to launch with the RPM's around 6k. It takes a bit of practice. Let the clutch out too fast and you bog...too slow and you burn the clutch. Once you get it right you will have a on your face.

My 9 still has the pill. I put to the 2-step and let her out fast. It may not be the fastest launch but it seams consistent.

Ebrake? I've never launched with the ebrake and have launched without issue.
