BR's Bad Bish, first runs for 2009
#47
No connections. If the event is not a sanctioned NHRA/IHRA event and the track is individually owned the track owner has the option of enforcing or not enforcing the safety rules. I have been told by multiple track owners/operators that if a car comes in the gate and the driver handles the car safely they let it run. If the car comes in and it looks like the car or driver is not running safely they will enforce the rules on that car for their own safety. You sign a waiver when you enter the track that basically says, "This stuff is dangerous and I may be killed spectating or participating, if that happens I knew the risk."
Here is another good example for you guys who are constantly worried about who/how/why on the roll bars.
Any of you ever run on a road course? I have. You guys do realize that there is no cage requirements for doing that on most levels don't you? I run in NASA's program. You have 20+ cars on the track at one time all going around in circles as fast as they can. Some of the guys out there have absolutely no clue at all what they are doing. At Mid Ohio even in my NA V6 Eclipse I see 120+ mph. In my Subaru I saw 145+. In an EVO 150+. The required safety equipment is a factory seat belt, helmet, long pants, shoes and a long sleeved shirt. You also drive with both front windows down, no arm restraints or window net. Now NASA has their stuff together if you ask me. Let people come in and race their cars, we all know the risk. I see atleast one wreck per weekend if not one wreck per day at a NASA event. I rarely see a wreck at the drag strip.
Let's drop the roll bar discussion, it's been worn out.
