Yeah. They're roughly half a second away from the absolutely quickest drag VIII's and IX's out there. In terms of drag racing times, that's leagues away. I'm sure they have plans for the drag car, but there's no point in executing a costly plan if the competition is still far away from catching up.

yeah ut you'd think they'd be trying to beat their own time and not thinking about others. i bet they have their hands full with that gt-r, and they keep forgetting to do any work because their eyes are glued to it!

from my understanding they are constantly trying to develop newer and better parts for our cars, as well as others. with that said, they have a few generations of evos that run different types of events to worry about, as well as their g2 coupe they are developing parts for, a salt flat car and a porshe to play with. would be nice if they could spend all their time developing what we personally want to see, but they have other stuff to do and im sure they would like to make money all while doing this so they can stay in business of doing what we all love, going faster, turning sharper and taking these cars to their limits as best as we can.

Being a huge AMS supporter, I have started to wonder the same thing but geez, have you guys forgotten the projects they have been working on lately?

A few were named above
Salt Flat Car
Nissan GTR
AMS Drag Car Clone
Time Attack Evo X - AMS
Time Attack Evo X - Customer Car

thats only to name a few.... those are not small projects by ANY stretch I am sure much of there focus is on their evo X time attack car and getting that dialed in and customers cars.

so far and I am probably wrong but isn't the fastest time this year so far 8.75 at 162 by mike?! Do get a car down 3 tenths of a second at this level will seem like an eternity.

I hope they run because that car with the changes they made to it last, will be a heartbreaker... hopefully we will see it this year

yes, Mike went 8.75, but that was on a small Billet 6765. It could pick up .35+ when they go back to the 42r.

you should see if the mods can change the title, I don't think anyone is getting defensive but with as diverse as that shop is and the amount of huge projects they have going on and trying to get there TA2 car fixed and dialed in and they are still quiet a bit faster than the crowd right now. There really isn't a point for them to focus on the drag car..

I know I can't wait because that thing just sounds nasty and love watching it

I agree celica however we have actually seen that the 42R is abit more tempermental per say. I could be talking out of my butt but have we seen any back to back to back consecutive runs with a 42R powered car that have been close in times?

Anyways, back to the OP, I hope we see it run this year or it might be somethere where they don't mention a word and then BAM 8.3X's are going to pop-up one morning...

Guys if I recall correctly I believe AMS said they had to upgrade the cage in the car and that would take some time before the drag car came back out. Its some where in the thread when they ran the 8.4. Although we would all like to see them run the car more, its just not a priority to them at this point with so many other projects going on. The night they went 8.4, that wasnt even a planned track day lol.
