Diagnose my 1/4 mile slips please
Well long story short went to the track and got disappointed. Previously with just an exhaust I have ran 13.1 @ 106.9 mph but now I have:
-02 housing
-3" turbo back exhaust
-cone filter
-Hallman in cabin mbc
-Tuned to 24 psi using 93 octane
-RRE 10.8lbs flywheel & CCI stage 4 clutch
Here are tonights track times:
R/T ... .656
60' ... 1.820
330 ... 5.386
1/8 ... 8.378
MPH ... 83.55
1000 ... 10.987
1/4 ... 13.143
MPH ... 105.43
This one I missed 3rd but quickly recovered.
R/T ... .439
60' ... 1.860
330 ... 5.402
1/8 ... 8.491
MPH ... 82.83
1000 ... 11.125
1/4 ... 13.287
MPH ... 105.26
I ran the car a few more times and it was basically the same results. I thought that maybe the clutch might have not been gripping so I adjusted the pedal with no affects. The clutch held good and actually spinned the wheels during the launch acceleration.
I was expecting to be around the 115 area but I was trapping less than when I had just an exhaust & filter as a modification. I'm assuming it might be a boost leak so I'll probably be checking up on the intercooler piping soon.
Also I did mess with the stock maf a little. The cylinder at the bottom part that sticks in, I screwed it out to allow less restriction for the air flow. But I highly doubt that could do cause this much of an issue.
What do you guys think?

Fast Freddie pointed out something important, i suggest to put it back how it was.
You need to check every aspect of your car.. Boost leak test, make sure everything is installed properly, good spark plugs... Then finally make sure the tune is square on.
Can't tune or race a car with possible issues.. Do all of those and if you find nothing report back and I'm sure some guys will have ideas for you.
Cheers!

Those times are way-off for your mods, and you should be hitting 110 MPH at least in an EVO IX. I'd also suspect a boost leak. Lots of opportunity there with the in-cabin Hallman MBC.
Not-necessarily related, but is your boost falling off at high RPMs or holding steady?

I agree with tom, your boost has to be falling off, because at the 1/8th mile mark we have the same mph,and I trap 108 at the end(with no tune) and my times are 12.7s
So get the leak(s) fixed and you'll be ready to rock n roll

Just to give you an idea, my mods are in my sig, without a tune It looked like this:
60'- 1.812
330- 5.270
1/8- 8.150
Mph- 84.64
1000- 10.652
1/4- 12.748
Mph- 107.73
That's where you should be at least at. Now remember mines an evo 8,while you should be doing 110 traps with the 9

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/dr...d-low-11s.html I found this info very helpful. Could just be the way you are launching and shifting.

I did notice the bottom intercooler to turbo hose was a little slid back. So I adjusted it and retightened the clamp. I'll check in the morning how it boosts.
Any one local have a leak tester that could help me out with a quick check?

ok this is what I have done so far.
A couple of days ago I noticed that the bottom intercooler to turbo J pipe hose was a little slid back. So I loosened the t-bolt clamp adjusted it and tightened it back down.
Today I gather all the stuff and made a boost leak checker and got a pressure can. At first I did a leak test and found that the vacuum hose section under the steering wheel for my boost gauge was leaking pretty good even at only 3 psi. I had two hoses connected but the adapter on one end was too small to create a good seal. I replaced that and zip tied it.
So then I unhooked the throttle body hose and sealed that to test the intercooler system on how well it holds boost and it held all 26 psi that I tested it with.
I also adjusted the cylinder inside the maf back up. After doing a pull on 1-3 gears I am now holding 18 psi at redline (7k rpms) as apposed to 17 psi previously.
I think thats about all I need to check. I'm pretty sure that the boost guage vacuum tube was leaking during my tune. Do you guys think I need to get a retune again?
Well anyways I'm going to go to the track again in a week or so and see what I trap at.

This might seem like a strange question but are temperatures the same between your 106mph times and these?
HEAT and HUMIDITY play a big part in power as well. I don't care what people say on turbo cars. If you are judging middle of the summer runs with a fall of spring best that had cooler temperatures that could be part of the problem. Mine runs like garbage in this heat.
